Voicemails for Isabelle 2: Missed Connections (2028)

Posted on July 12, 2026

Starring: Zoey Deutch, Nick Robinson, Nick Offerman, Kaitlyn Dever

Exactly three years after a seemingly miraculous and inexplicable technological glitch initially brought them together, Maya, played by Zoey Deutch, and Leo, played by Nick Robinson, are now happily engaged and living a wonderful life together in the vibrant city of Seattle. Seeking a meaningful way to properly honor the memory of her beloved late sister Isabelle and wanting to share her own beautifully unconventional healing journey with the world, Maya decides to start a deeply heartfelt and emotional audio podcast.

To her absolute astonishment, the intimate project unexpectedly goes completely viral, touching the hearts of thousands of listeners across the globe. However, the mysterious hand of fate suddenly intervenes once again in their lives when Leos old cellular phone number the exact same number that first miraculously connected the two lovers is officially reassigned by the network. The legendary number is given to a highly quirky, fiercely independent, and stubbornly reclusive local archivist named June, portrayed brilliantly by Kaitlyn Dever.

Almost immediately, June begins receiving a strange and continuous series of cryptic, highly romantic, and deeply emotional voicemails from a completely unknown caller, voiced by the talented Glen Powell. These intriguing audio messages carefully detail an incredibly elaborate and sprawling scavenger hunt that is explicitly meant for a desperately lost love. Deeply inspired by the beautiful serendipity of their own magical romance and absolutely determined to pay the incredible favor of the universe forward to someone else, Maya and Leo enthusiastically take it upon themselves to intervene.

They manage to successfully convince a deeply reluctant and highly skeptical June to step outside of her quiet comfort zone and actively help them track down the identity of the mysterious caller. Joined by Mayas gruff, traditionally stoic, but fiercely protective and loving father, played by the hilarious Nick Offerman, the newly formed group embarks on a wildly chaotic, incredibly heartwarming, and unforgettable road trip in a beautifully restored vintage RV across the stunning landscapes of the Pacific Northwest.

As the dedicated group eagerly follows the complex audio clues through a series of eccentric, charming small towns and absolutely breathtaking natural landscapes, the grueling journey naturally begins to test the absolute limits of Maya and Leos romantic relationship. The happy couple is forced to navigate the increasingly looming and stressful pressure of their own impending wedding planning while simultaneously trying to solve the romantic mystery of a complete stranger. Packed to the brim with the original films signature endearing charm, exceptionally witty and fast paced banter, and profoundly moving underlying messages about the nature of human grief and the sheer power of emotional vulnerability, Missed Connections definitively proves a beautiful point. It shows audiences everywhere that sometimes the universe leaves a vital and life changing message for you that you simply cannot afford to ignore.
