Bryson DeChambeau Offered Full DP World Tour Status for 2027

Bryson DeChambeau Offered Full DP World Tour Status for 2027

The DP World Tour has informed Bryson DeChambeau that he holds full playing privileges on the European circuit for 2027, should he decide to apply for membership.

According to a report first published by The Telegraph and confirmed by multiple outlets including Golf Channel and Sports Business Journal, DeChambeau’s advisers were notified that the two-time U.S. Open winner qualifies for a Category 1 exemption.

That category is reserved for winners of major championships and the Race to Dubai within the past seven years.

DeChambeau won the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2, his second major title after the 2020 U.S. Open at Winged Foot.

He is the only LIV Golf player who is not a current DP World Tour member and still holds that exemption.

The offer arrives as LIV Golf, DeChambeau’s employer since 2022, enters liquidation.

The league’s planned relaunch — dubbed LIV 2.0 — collapsed in recent weeks after BC Partners pulled a $300 million investment.

DeChambeau was considered the key figure in that proposed relaunch.

He met with BC Partners representatives recently, though it remains unclear whether he committed to appear in the new iteration before the deal fell apart.

In public comments on the Figuring Out podcast, DeChambeau expressed confidence that LIV 2.0 would have lasting power.

“The business model makes a lot of sense, and we’re actually working through that right now for this new model where it will make full financial sense,” DeChambeau said.

“It’s no funny business, no nothing. It’s going to be done right. And this is going to be a league, hopefully, that exists forever.”

Those comments were made before the BC Partners withdrawal became public.

Since the liquidation announcement, DeChambeau has remained silent about his future plans.

He has not formally announced whether he will apply for DP World Tour membership.

The deadline to submit an application is Nov. 14, 2026.

If DeChambeau accepts the offer and competes on the DP World Tour in 2027, he could earn back his PGA Tour card for 2028 via the Race to Dubai money list.

That pathway is significant because the PGA Tour’s Returning Members Program — which was available to DeChambeau earlier this year — has been described by PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp as a one-time offer.

The program offered Brooks Koepka a direct path back to the PGA Tour earlier in 2026.

Rolapp has since been adamant that the program will not be repeated.

DeChambeau is not alone among former LIV players making moves back toward traditional tours.

Jon Rahm has already announced his intention to compete on the DP World Tour full-time in 2027.

Tyrrell Hatton and Sergio Garcia have also announced plans to return.

Cameron Smith, the 2022 Open champion, is also eligible for the same Category 1 exemption as DeChambeau.

The DP World Tour’s offer to DeChambeau does not require him to rejoin the PGA Tour or any American circuit.

It grants him access to the European-based tour’s full schedule of events in 2027, including Rolex Series tournaments and the season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.

Category 1 status also carries no minimum-event requirement beyond the standard membership obligations.

The offer has drawn mixed reactions from current DP World Tour players.

One unnamed DP World Tour pro was quoted by a Middle Eastern outlet as taking a pointed dig at DeChambeau, calling him “less serious a golfer.”

That comment was not directed at DeChambeau by name in the original report but was attributed to a player reacting to the news of his potential return.

DeChambeau’s decision will likely hinge on several factors.
