James Blunt Admits Feeling Betrayed By Romesh Ranganathan's Shock Move In Reality Finale

James Blunt Admits Feeling Betrayed By Romesh Ranganathan's Shock Move In Reality Finale

James Blunt admitted he felt blindsided and betrayed when Romesh Ranganathan suddenly voted to banish him in the finale of The Celebrity Traitors, prompting Blunt to retaliate with a red pouch vote.

The dramatic showdown took place during the climactic final moments of the BBC One competition.

Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, the hit series brought a cast of famous faces to a remote castle in the Scottish Highlands.

Filmed last year and broadcast across October, the tense game reached its conclusion on a Friday night.

Over the course of the competition, contestants were secretly divided into Faithfuls and Traitors.

The Faithfuls had to deduce who among them was secretly eliminating players each night.

By the time the endgame arrived, the prize pot stood at an impressive £83,000.

Only a handful of celebrities remained inside the castle walls to contest that final prize fund.

Among them were 52-year-old singer James Blunt and 48-year-old stand-up comedian Romesh Ranganathan.

They were joined at the climax by 24-year-old actor Sebastian Croft, known as Bash.

Social media star King Kenny had also reached the final stages after operating as a Traitor throughout the competition.

TV presenter Maya Jama, host of Love Island, had also made the final table as a Traitor.

A TENSE ROUNDTABLE

The tension spiked when King Kenny decided to turn against his fellow Traitor Maya Jama.

That calculated betrayal led directly to Jama being banished from the castle by the group.

Her departure left the remaining players facing an agonizing decision in the endgame.

A deadlock vote quickly developed between banishing content creator Kenny or singer James Blunt.

Because the vote was tied, Ranganathan and Croft were granted a brief opportunity to confer with each other.

Croft laid out his firm theory that Kenny was a Traitor while Blunt was undeniably a Faithful.

Ranganathan listened carefully and agreed to switch his vote away from the You’re Beautiful singer.

With that tactical change, King Kenny was successfully banished from the game.

At that point, all three surviving players in the castle were genuine Faithfuls.

If the three men simply agreed to end the game, they would share the victory.

Instead, the endgame took an entirely unexpected twist that left viewers stunned.

THE SHOCK ACCUSATION

Despite having just spared the musician, Ranganathan suddenly cast suspicion back onto Blunt.

The comedian openly voiced doubts and wrongly accused Blunt of secretly being a Traitor.

The sudden reversal caught the musician completely off guard.

Blunt had assumed his allegiance to the Faithful cause was completely beyond dispute.

Facing an unexpected accusation from an ally, Blunt decided he could not simply end the game in peace.

Instead of voting to conclude the contest, Blunt cast a vote to banish again.

He aimed his banishment vote directly at Ranganathan in retaliation for the sudden confrontation.

Ranganathan and Croft then joined forces to cast their final votes against Blunt.

The resulting majority vote officially banished Blunt from the Scottish Highlands estate.

Croft and Ranganathan stood as the final two players remaining at the fire pit.

Both men revealed themselves to be Faithfuls, officially winning the entire reality series.

The £83,000 charity prize pot was split between their chosen causes, Choose Love and the Refugee Council.

BLUNT BREAKS HIS SILENCE

Following the broadcast, Blunt addressed the climactic boardroom drama during a radio appearance.

Speaking on BBC Radio 2’s The Sara Cox Breakfast Show, the singer reflected on the sting of that moment.

He admitted that Ranganathan's sudden move left him feeling genuinely betrayed.

Blunt explained that he believed his track record throughout the series spoke for itself.

"I think what I really knew is, I had proven through the time we had been there that I was a faithful. Everyone knew it," Blunt said.

He recalled that the consensus among the group had felt clear right up until the decisive vote.

"Everyone at the roundtable said he’s obviously a faithful, so when Romesh pulled his card out, I was like, hang on."

The singer felt compelled to fight back once he saw his ally turn against him.

"I think Romesh was being a little underhand(ed). I had to chuck in a final red because he’s done something very treacherous there, hasn’t he?"

FEUD RUMORS SQUASHED

Despite the intense onscreen confrontation, Blunt moved quickly to silence any chatter about a personal feud.

He emphasized that the fiery clash was strictly confined to the psychology of the game.

"It was the perfect finish; I really enjoyed it," Blunt told Sara Cox.

He made sure to clarify the exact nature of their friendship away from television cameras.

"Romesh and I are really close, actually; I promise we’re really good friends."

In another interview, Blunt revealed a generous gesture Ranganathan made after the cameras stopped rolling.

Ranganathan made a personal donation to the charity Blunt had hoped to support with the prize money.

Blunt went on to describe the comedian as a very sweet human being.

Their bond remained completely solid despite the dramatic banishment that ended Blunt's run.

HOW BLUNT ENDED UP IN THE CASTLE

Blunt also revealed the surprising story behind how he joined the reality show in the first place.
