Kanye West Debuts New Yeezy Runway Collection Around White Mound Before All-Star Los Angeles Crowd

Four years after major corporate partners severed ties following controversial remarks, Kanye West returned to the fashion runway with his independent 'Yeezy Season 01' show in Los Angeles.

The presentation took place Wednesday, November 4, at the new Yeezy Flagship Droam 1 location.

It was West's first runway show since October 2022, when his Yeezy Season 9 presentation in Paris sparked outrage.

At that 2022 show, West wore a T-shirt bearing the slogan 'White Lives Matter.'

Several attendees, including Jaden Smith, walked out in protest.

The fallout was swift and severe.

Adidas, which had partnered with West since 2013, severed ties with his Yeezy empire.

The company called West's remarks "unacceptable, hateful and dangerous."

The move effectively collapsed one of the most profitable sneaker collaborations in history.

For four years, Yeezy operated without a proper runway presence.

Wednesday's show marked the brand's rebirth as an independent operation.

The format was unconventional.

Instead of sending models down a traditional straight runway, West had them walk in circles around a large white mound.

The collection featured minimalist silhouettes and monochromatic designs.

Rapper Nettspend was among those modeling the new pieces.

The soundtrack included several unreleased Kanye West songs.

The guest list drew heavily from music and fashion.

Kid Cudi, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Jerry Lorenzo and A$AP Nast were all in attendance.

West's family also turned out in force.

His wife, Bianca Censori, attended alongside her 13-year-old stepdaughter North West.

Censori wore a champagne-colored skintight bodysuit with an extremely plunging neckline that ended below her navel.

The outfit exposed a large section of her braless chest and toned midriff.

North West opted for a more relaxed look, sporting an oversized black T-shirt dress and electric blue hair.

Also present were West's three younger children with ex-wife Kim Kardashian: Saint, 10, Chicago, eight, and Psalm, seven.

The family outing was notable because West is rarely seen with his younger children in public.

Censori has been married to West since December 2022.

Their wedding took place one month after he finalized his divorce from Kardashian, whom he was married to from 2014 to 2022.

In a Vanity Fair interview earlier this year, Censori addressed her fashion choices.

"I wouldn't be doing something I didn't want to do," she told the magazine.

"It was like a collaboration; it was never 'I was being told to do something.'"

She added: "If you were married to Gianni Versace, wouldn't he give you a dress or something?"

The Yeezy Season 01 show represents a significant test for West's brand.

Between 2013 and 2022, Yeezy operated with the full infrastructure of Adidas behind it.

The partnership produced dozens of sneaker colorways and apparel collections that generated billions in revenue.

Without that corporate backing, West must build Yeezy from the ground up.

The flagship store itself is a new venture.

Holding the show at the brand's first brick-and-mortar location signals a shift toward direct-to-consumer retail.

West has not announced when or how the new collection will be available for purchase.

He has not commented publicly on the show or its reception.

The question now is whether the fashion and music industries are ready to embrace Yeezy again.
