Kris Jenner Breaks Silence on Kim's Scary Health Diagnosis

Kris Jenner Breaks Silence on Kim's Scary Health Diagnosis

Kim Kardashian's ultra-plunging latex dress is so rare it will send fans wild.

But behind the glamorous photo shoots and vintage Paco Rabanne looks, a very different story is unfolding.

On the November 5 episode of The Kardashians, Kris Jenner finally broke her silence about Kim Kardashian's esophagitis diagnosis.

And what she said reveals a fear she has been keeping from her daughter.

"So of course I'm scared," Kris said.

"I don't want to tell her I'm scared, but it's very worrisome. We just pray for the best."

The diagnosis comes with a heavy family history.

Kim's father, Robert Kardashian, died of esophageal cancer on September 30, 2003, at age 59.

He was diagnosed just eight weeks before his death.

Robert had GERD — gastroesophageal reflux disease — which is the most common cause of esophageal cancer, according to Kim's doctor on the show.

Kim, 46, revealed earlier this season that she was diagnosed with esophagitis.

Per the Mayo Clinic, esophagitis is "swelling and irritation, called inflammation, of the tissues that line the esophagus."

GERD is a leading cause, but it can also result from a buildup of white blood cells in the esophagus or from medication.

During the episode, Kim visited UCLA Health for a follow-up appointment.

"We're here to see if the esophagitis has gotten worse or better with the medication they gave me," she explained.

Her doctor told her they were examining her for any "pre-cancerous condition."

That word — cancer — hangs over every appointment.

Kim had already undergone an initial endoscopy that detected an "irregular area" in her esophagus.

A second endoscopy was scheduled to monitor the situation.

"I went in for an endoscopy and the doctor said my esophagus has these irregularities and I have to have them cut out," Kim said in a confessional.

"And I was like, 'Oh come on, we're not repeating this.' It's the same thing my dad had. I'm like, nope, we're not doing this."

The irony is not lost on her.

In 2019, Kim and her sister Khloé founded the UCLA Robert G. Kardashian Center for Oesophageal Health.

The center provides "resources for groundbreaking research, patient care and education/training, in addition to support of efforts in esophageal health."

It was named in honor of their late father.

Now Kim is a patient in the very building she helped create.

"Because of my dad's experience, my sisters and I have opened the Robert Kardashian Oesophageal Health Center at UCLA," Kim said in a confessional.

"The irony of this all — the fact that I helped to put together this building, never knowing that I would need it."

Kim has two possible outcomes from her treatment.

If the medication works, she can continue on it and avoid surgery.

If the irregularities have not gone away, she will need a portion of her esophagus removed.

"I'm hopeful. It is what it is," Kim said.

"They're either gonna say, 'Hey, the irregularities have not gone away from the medication and you need to have a piece of your esophagus removed.' Or, they're gonna say, 'The medication worked and you don't need the procedure and just continue on this medication.'"

"Obviously, I don't want surgery, but I'll do whatever's necessary," she added.

For Kris, watching her daughter go through this is "really stressful."

She knows the timeline all too well.

Robert died just eight weeks after his diagnosis.

That memory is never far from her mind.

"So of course I'm scared," Kris repeated.

"I don't want to tell her I'm scared, but it's very worrisome. We just pray for the best."

The preview for the next episode suggests the situation may get worse before it gets better.

Kim is shown talking to her doctor, and the tone is serious.

Meanwhile, Kim continues her public appearances in rare vintage fashion.

Her current style rotation is anchored in vintage Paco Rabanne — rare archival pieces that are notoriously difficult to track down.

For her most recent look, she wore a bold orange dress from Paco Rabanne's Haute Couture Spring/Summer 1996 collection.

The garment features a plunging neckline, sleeveless design, and figure-hugging silhouette.

It is adorned with gold embellishments in large cutout designs.

Kim's dark hair was styled sleek and straight, with bronze eye makeup and a nude lip.

The SKIMS founder has been serving a marathon of archival looks while promoting Season 2 of Hulu's All's Fair.

For an appearance on Good Morning America, she wore a Paco Rabanne Haute Couture gown from spring 1989.

The one-shoulder top is made entirely from linked metal discs, with an asymmetric neckline and a single short sleeve on the left.

At the waist, the metallic bodice gives way to a fluid, draped satin skirt.

For her 46th birthday dinner at Baldi at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, Kim wore two ensembles from Paco Rabanne's Fall/Winter 1995 Haute Couture collection.

Both looks consisted of a crystal-embellished mini dress styled with a matching headpiece.

The first was a metallic olive-green tunic-style dress with a deep V-neckline and kimono-inspired sleeves.

It featured a daring slit at the hem and was embellished with intricate orange and blue gems along the edges and bodice.
