Kris Jenner’s Secret Fear Over Kim’s Health Crisis

Kris Jenner’s Secret Fear Over Kim’s Health Crisis

Kim Kardashian's latest health scare comes with heart-wrenching confession.

On the November 5 episode of The Kardashians, the 46-year-old media personality and SKIMS founder revealed she underwent an endoscopy at the UCLA Robert G. Kardashian Center for Oesophageal Health.

The same center she and sister Khloé Kardashian founded in 2019 in honor of their late father, Robert Kardashian.

"Because of my dad's experience, my sisters and I have opened the Robert Kardashian Oesophageal Health Center at UCLA," Kim said in a confessional.

"The irony of this all — the fact that I helped to put together this building, never knowing that I would need it."

Kim went in for a follow-up endoscopy after an "irregular area" was detected in her esophagus during an initial procedure.

"I went in for an endoscopy and the doctor said my esophagus has these irregularities and I have to have them cut out," Kim explained.

"And I was like, 'Oh come on, we're not repeating this.' It's the same thing my dad had. I'm like, nope, we're not doing this."

Robert Kardashian died of esophageal cancer at age 59 on September 30, 2003.

He was diagnosed just eight weeks before his death.

Kim's current diagnosis is esophagitis — a swelling and irritation of the tissues lining the esophagus, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD, is a leading cause of esophagitis.

Kim revealed in the episode that her father also had GERD.

At her doctor's appointment, the physician explained that GERD is the most common cause of esophageal cancer.

Kim's doctor is now examining her for any "pre-cancerous condition."

"We're here to see if the esophagitis has gotten worse or better with the medication they gave me," Kim said during the episode.

In a confessional, Kim laid out her options plainly.

"They're either gonna say, 'Hey, the irregularities have not gone away from the medication and you need to have a piece of your esophagus removed.' Or, they're gonna say, 'The medication worked and you don't need the procedure and just continue on this medication,'" she said.

"Obviously, I don't want surgery, but I'll do whatever's necessary."

Kris Jenner, 70, accompanied Kim to the doctor's appointment.

The matriarch did not hide her worry.

"So of course I'm scared," Kris said in the episode.

"I don't want to tell her I'm scared, but it's very worrisome. We just pray for the best."

Kris described the situation as "really stressful" given Robert's rapid decline after his own diagnosis.

Robert died just eight weeks after doctors found his cancer.

The UCLA Robert G. Kardashian Center for Oesophageal Health provides resources for groundbreaking research, patient care, education and training, and support of efforts in esophageal health.

Kim and Khloé founded the center in 2019.

Kim never expected to become a patient there.

"I helped to put together this building, never knowing that I would need it," she repeated in her confessional.

The preview for the next episode shows Kim talking to her doctor about results.

Her expression suggests the news may not be what she hoped for.

Kris's confession that she is "scared" mirrors the fear many families feel when a parent's medical history echoes in a child's diagnosis.

The timeline of Robert's illness — diagnosis to death in eight weeks — hangs over every doctor's visit.

Kim has been open about her health struggles on the show this season.

Earlier in the season, she revealed her esophagitis diagnosis and the steps she was taking to manage it.

She has also balanced her health concerns with a busy promotional schedule for Season 2 of Hulu's All's Fair.

During that promotional run, Kim wore a series of rare archival Paco Rabanne pieces, including a plunging orange dress from the Haute Couture Spring/Summer 1996 collection.

But the fashion moments have been overshadowed by the health revelations.

Fans and family alike are watching closely for what comes next.
