Luke Bryan is sitting down with Billboard to walk through the stories behind his biggest hits.

The country superstar has had 26 songs reach No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart since the start of his career.

In a new video for Billboard’s Chart History series, Bryan breaks down the moments that shaped those songs.

He starts with his first Country Airplay No. 1, 2010’s “Rain Is a Good Thing.”

Bryan recalls how the music video captured where the Georgia native was in his career at that moment.

“I was right outside of my college town — I think it was our first Farm Tour show ever,” Bryan reflects.

“The beauty of that video, is just really, really me in a nutshell.”

He explains that the production didn’t have a big video budget.

“We didn’t have a super big video budget, we knew we had a great little show to video,” he says.

“It brings back, really, a special time in my career where I’m praying every day that I can build my career.”

Bryan says the best way to build a career is to have a first No. 1 song on Billboard.

“And obviously ‘Rain Is a Good Thing’ was that,” he says.

He wrote the song with one of his best friends, songwriter Dallas Davidson.

“We were still relatively young writers,” Bryan says.

“And we took a phrase [‘Rain makes corn, corn makes whiskey’] we grew up hearing in South Georgia.”

“The fact that we were able to take something we heard as young men, and go on to become my first Billboard No. 1, was really incredible,” he says.

While the lighthearted “Rain Is a Good Thing” brought an initial career milestone, Bryan also talks about how the emotional 2014 hit “Drink a Beer” helped give his career new dimension.

“I think at the time I was known as the uptempo, really energetic, high-energy party guy,” Bryan says.

“And so when I put ‘Drink a Beer’ out, it just really showed another depth of my artistry.”

He says the song proved he could have a very impactful song with a deep subject matter.

“And the coolest aspect about it is Jim Beavers and Chris Stapleton wrote it,” Bryan says.

“And at the time, the Nashville songwriting community, we were praying that the world would learn about Chris Stapleton the artist, not just the songwriter.”

Bryan recalls performing “Drink a Beer” at the CMA Awards in 2013.

“When I had the opportunity to perform ‘Drink a Beer’ at the CMAs [in 2013], I called Chris,” Bryan says.

He notes that this was maybe a year or so before Stapleton and Justin Timberlake had their iconic CMA Awards moment in 2015.

“The bottom line was I was just really happy to share that moment with Chris,” Bryan says.

“The lyrics of that song, the emotion of that song, spoke to a country audience as good as you could speak,” he adds.

Throughout the video, Bryan looks back on more hits.

He discusses “Play It Again,” “Country Girl (Shake It For Me),” “Waves,” “I See You,” and “Most People Are Good.”

Each song represents a different chapter in his career.

“Play It Again” became a fan favorite with its story of a woman replaying a voicemail.

“Country Girl (Shake It For Me)” captured the high-energy party vibe that first defined Bryan’s image.

“Waves” showed a more reflective side of the singer.

“I See You” continued his streak of romantic hits.

“Most People Are Good” delivered a message of optimism that resonated with country audiences.

Bryan’s Billboard Chart History video gives fans a rare behind-the-scenes look at the making of his biggest songs.

The series is designed to let artists tell the stories behind their chart-topping hits in their own words.

For Bryan, the project is a chance to reflect on how far he has come since his early days in Georgia.

He started his career as a songwriter in Nashville before breaking out as a performer.

His first album, “I’ll Stay Me,” was released in 2007.

Since then, he has become one of the most successful touring acts in country music.

Bryan’s Farm Tour, which started in 2009, has become a beloved annual tradition for fans in rural areas.

The tour brings live music to working farms across the country.

Bryan has also headlined major festivals and stadiums.

His live shows are known for high energy and crowd participation.
