Meghan Markle's half-brother named person of interest in child porn probe

Meghan Markle’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., has been named a person of interest in the ongoing child pornography investigation involving their father, Thomas Markle Sr.
Philippine Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla announced the development Thursday during a press conference in Manila.
“To accuse the father only is only half the police work,” Remulla said, according to News5 Philippines.
Remulla confirmed that a witness alleged underage girls had been brought to a residence linked to the investigation.
“There are signs that point that the son is involved in the crime as well but only as a person of interest so far,” he said.
Markle Jr., 60, is not yet being treated as a suspect.
“We will know in the next week,” Remulla added in a video shared by Reuters.
The investigation began in October after Markle Jr. allegedly found a trove of child sex images in his father’s former home in Cebu, Philippines.
Markle Jr. reportedly discovered the materials inside several boxes and turned them over to local police.
Authorities later inspected the property and found a “trove” of suspected child sexual abuse material and a laptop, Remulla told AFP on Oct. 24.

Remulla said around 7,500 sensitive materials of underage males and females were uncovered on devices found in Markle Sr.’s belongings.
“They presented it to me but I didn’t want to look because I can’t unsee it,” Remulla said.
“It is the most deplorable displays of impunity towards sexual activity that I have ever seen. It’s really, really disturbing.”
The FBI is assisting Philippine authorities in identifying the devices’ registration, as six phones had come from the United States.
In October, The Daily Mail reported that disturbing child pornography was found during a raid of a Mexico storage unit rented by Markle Sr.

Markle Sr., 82, has vehemently denied all allegations.
“It’s just a bunch of lies. It’s sick,” he told the Daily Mail on Oct. 23.
In a separate interview with the Mail on Sunday, he said: “I have never had sex with anyone under the age of 18.”
He added that if there was anything bad on his devices, “it was put there by someone else,” according to the Daily Telegraph.
Markle Sr. told the Daily Mail that the computers had not been in his possession since he left Mexico in January 2025 and that he did not know who had access to them.
He said he would welcome a forensic examination of the devices.
Remulla told the Guardian on Oct. 25 that investigators were considering all angles because the case involved a family dispute.
“We want to be sure before we release the findings,” he added.
Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, previously said she was “deeply disturbed” by the investigation into her estranged father.
She revealed that she had been aware of similar allegations years earlier, which influenced her decision to cut ties with her family.
She has consequently kept Thomas Markle Sr. away from her and Prince Harry’s two children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5.
Meanwhile, Thomas Markle Sr. received a visit from his daughter Samantha Markle, 61, at his care home in Florida on Wednesday.
Sources told The Sun they engaged in “crisis talks” regarding the FBI investigation.
“It was very odd. She was there for an unusually long time — they had a lot to discuss,” a source said.
“Since the meeting she’s stopped speaking about the allegations on social media.”
The New York Post has contacted Thomas Markle Jr. and Philippine authorities for comment.
No charges have been filed against either Thomas Markle Sr. or Thomas Markle Jr. at this time.
The investigation remains ongoing, with Philippine authorities expected to provide further updates in the coming week.
