Meghan Markle’s half-brother now “person of interest” in child abuse case.

Meghan Markle’s half-brother Thomas Markle Jr. has been named a “person of interest” in a child abuse investigation in the Philippines — just weeks after he reported their father to authorities in the same country.
Interior Secretary Juanito Victor Remulla announced the development during a press conference in Manila.
“There are indications suggesting that the son may also be involved in the crime, but only as a person of interest so far — he is not yet treated as a suspect,” Remulla said, per The Telegraph.
“We have witnesses that underage girls are brought to his house, and we are following it up,” he added.
When asked about these allegations, Remulla said that Thomas Jr. “claimed to be merely doing TikTok [videos].”
Thomas Markle Jr. initially reported their father, Thomas Markle Sr., 82, to Philippine authorities regarding allegations of possession of child sexual abuse material.
He said he discovered a trove of “hundreds, if not thousands” of photos depicting child sexual abuse at Thomas Sr.’s home in the Philippines, according to The Sun on October 22.
Thomas Jr. submitted several legal affidavits to Filipino authorities.

“It’s been a long process but I’m determined to cooperate fully in the hope that justice will be done,” he said.
Police have allegedly found similar materials on Thomas Sr.’s digital devices, according to The Telegraph.
Major General Wilson Asueta, of the Philippine National Police, confirmed this week that Child Sexual Exploitative and Abuse Material — CSEAM — was believed to be among the photos and computer files seized.
“We were able to find that there are files consisting of CSEAM,” Asueta said.
“This will be subjected further to analysis. These are videos of a male and female minors, others who are not minors doing sexual activities and of course, explicit materials.”
“We are conducting ongoing digital forensics analysis and our field investigators are also doing their best conducting investigations… to validate the information that was provided to us. The investigation is going in the right direction.”
Remulla referred to Thomas Sr. as “a possible sex offender of the grossest kind.”
Thomas Sr. has denied all allegations of child sexual abuse, calling them “sick lies” in a statement shared with the Daily Mail.

He added that his son’s claims against him are “the worst thing anyone could accuse me of.”
The investigation does not stop in the Philippines.
Mexican investigators recently raided a storage unit belonging to Thomas Sr., according to The Telegraph.
Mexican authorities began a criminal investigation after child sex abuse images were found among Thomas Sr.’s things, which appeared to date from when he was in his 40s or 50s.
The FBI is also searching lock-ups rented by Thomas Sr. for potential child abuse images, alongside the probes in the Philippines and Mexico.
U.S. agents were alerted to two units in Los Angeles following a tip-off from Thomas Jr.
The 82-year-old moved from Mexico to the Philippines in January 2025, though he relocated to Florida in May after undergoing a partial leg amputation.
Thomas Markle Sr. now lives in a care home in Florida.

On Wednesday, Meghan’s half-sister Samantha Markle, 61, visited her father in his care home for what sources described as long “crisis talks.”
They told The Sun: “It was very odd. She was there for an unusually long time — they had a lot to discuss.”
“Since the meeting she’s stopped speaking about the allegations on social media. Someone clearly has told her to stay quiet.”
Police in the Philippines say they are “very close” to bringing formal charges against Thomas Sr.
Meghan Markle was left “deeply distressed” by the allegations.
Sources revealed that she had been sent a letter by the Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection seven years ago.
The letter made “troubling and disturbing allegations” about her father, but she was assured that they were being investigated.
The Metropolitan Police has admitted it never shared the details with other law enforcement agencies.

The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), is now investigating the force’s conduct.
The Duchess had wanted to “speak out” immediately after reading the letter, but police advised her against this, sources said.
Meghan has been estranged from her father since the run-up to her 2018 wedding, when he was caught staging paparazzi photographs and then had a heart attack, meaning the King, then the Prince of Wales, stepped in to walk Meghan down the aisle.
A spokesperson for the Duchess confirmed at the time she had “reached out to her father.”
Former federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani, president of West Coast Trial Lawyers, explained the legal distinction to Newsweek.
“These are terms that are used by law enforcement. A suspect is a person who is the target of the investigation that they will likely arrest and charge. A person of interest may be charged, may be arrested or may not be,” Rahmani said.
The investigation now spans three countries — the Philippines, Mexico and the United States — and involves at least three members of the Markle family.
What remains unclear is whether Thomas Markle Jr. will be elevated from “person of interest” to suspect as the Philippine investigation continues.
Authorities said they are still analyzing the digital evidence and following up on witness statements.
Remulla made clear the investigation is not one-sided.
“To accuse the father only is only half the police work,” he said.
“There are signs that point that the son is a person of interest. He is not being treated as a suspect.”
