Prince Harry and Meghan Markle lose key producer as Netflix deals stall

Chanel Pysnik, who served as executive producer on the Netflix docuseries “Harry & Meghan” and was one of Archewell Productions’ first hires, has officially left the company after nearly six years.
Pysnik was the head of nonfiction at Archewell Productions.
She joined the company in its earliest days and built the strategic framework for its unscripted content.
Her departure was confirmed on November 5, 2026.
Both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released a joint statement about her exit.
“Chanel was one of our very first hires at Archewell Productions and spearheaded the strategic framework for our unscripted endeavours,” they said.
They added: “She brought not only her expertise into the process, but also led with her heart in telling beautiful stories. Many successful productions later, her impact and legacy at Archewell is to be celebrated.”
Pysnik also reflected on her tenure in a statement to Deadline.

“It has been an honour to build Archewell Productions alongside Harry and Meghan for nearly six years,” she said.
She highlighted the company’s achievements during her time there.
“Together, we have produced work that has broken records, earned awards, and screened at prestigious film festivals, while reaching audiences around the world and contributing to important cultural conversations,” she added.
Pysnik said she was “incredibly proud of what we have accomplished, both creatively and commercially, and of the company we have built.”
She also thanked the Sussexes for trusting her leadership during a defining period for the production company.
During her tenure, Pysnik served as executive producer on several major Archewell projects.
Her credits include “Harry & Meghan,” the 2022 Netflix docuseries that chronicled the couple’s relationship, departure from royal duties, and experiences within the British royal family.
She also worked on “Heart of Invictus,” “Polo,” “Live to Lead,” and Meghan’s lifestyle series “With Love, Meghan.”

Pysnik was also involved in “Cookie Queens,” Archewell Productions’ first feature documentary, which premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival.
Before joining Archewell, Pysnik held nonfiction executive roles at Disney+ and CNN.
Her previous credits included acclaimed programs such as “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown” and “United Shades of America.”
Her exit is the latest in a series of high-profile departures from Archewell.
Other personnel who have left the company include former head of content Ben Browning, marketing chief Fara Taylor, president Mandana Dayani, audio boss Rebecca Sananes, and production manager Bennett Levine.
These exits have been reported by Page Six and other outlets over the past several months.
The departures come at a time when the couple’s upcoming entertainment projects have reportedly stalled.
According to sources who spoke to Page Six, the Sussexes’ Netflix film projects “Meet Me at the Lake” and “The Wedding Date” remain in development without clear progress since March.

“Meet Me at the Lake” is based on Carley Fortune’s bestselling book.
It has reportedly been in development since August 2023.
The film is believed to have an attached director whose identity remains under wraps.
“The Wedding Date,” based on Jasmine Guillory’s novel, has been in development since 2025.
The couple’s untitled scripted polo drama also has not received any update.
Harry is reportedly working on a documentary about Princess Diana ahead of her 30th death anniversary.
Netflix’s potential involvement in that film currently remains unclear.
One industry insider told Page Six that the lack of visible progress is simply how Hollywood works.

“Things are not made in a day,” the source said.
They explained that adaptations take time, especially as producers work with book writers on the script.
Another source said the hold-ups are typical when transforming a book into a film.
However, the timing of these stalled projects coincides with a shake-up at Netflix itself.
The streaming platform recently fired content chief Bela Bajaria and film boss Dan Lin.
Peter Rice has taken over content operations.
Rice’s equation with the Sussexes reportedly remains unknown.
A source told Page Six that Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos “is still 100 percent behind” the couple.

In March 2026, Netflix reportedly cut ties with Meghan’s As Ever brand and canceled “With Love, Meghan” after two seasons.
Following Pysnik’s exit, Nishika Kumble, senior vice president of scripted television, remains a key executive at Archewell Productions.
The Sussexes established Archewell Productions in 2020.
The company went on to create the hugely successful Netflix documentary about the couple a year later.
Harry and Meghan have also moved away from California this year.
Harry indicated in a GQ interview that the primary reason for their return to the UK was to prioritize family life by enrolling his children in British schools.
Meghan’s upcoming television venture, “Junior MasterChef Australia,” has no connection to Netflix.
Archewell maintains an ongoing agreement with the streaming service to date.
The question that remains for fans: Do you think Archewell Productions will be able to sustain its documentary success following the exit of its longtime nonfiction chief?
