Stephen A. Smith names one NFL team worse than the Dallas Cowboys

Stephen A. Smith has never been shy about roasting the Dallas Cowboys.
He posted a video of himself laughing after their loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers back in October.
"You can't make it up, you just can't," Smith said in that clip.
"How about them Cowboys? Christmas always comes early with these dudes. They never let me down."
More recently, Smith dismissed a suggestion from Cowboys owner Jerry Jones that the defense was trending in the right direction.
"Dallas' defence is horrible," Smith said.
But now Smith has made it clear that even a struggling Cowboys team is not the worst in his eyes.

Speaking on ESPN, Smith named one franchise he believes is in even worse shape.
"I don't give a d*** how bad the Dallas Cowboys are," Smith said.
"They ain't worse than the Indianapolis Colts."
"Let's get that out of the way. The Indianapolis Colts are a mess. They've been a mess."
Smith did not stop there.
"Steichen's lucky to still have his job," he said, referring to Colts head coach Shane Steichen.
"I mean, Ballard's already gone. I'm surprised he wasn't pushed out the door with him."

General manager Chris Ballard was fired by the Colts on October 28, 2026, after a 2-6 start to the season.
Smith then turned his attention to the Colts' roster situation.
"I'm looking at the Indianapolis Colts right now, and that's why Jonathan Taylor is on the market," Smith said.
Taylor, the Colts' star running back and a former All-Pro, has been the subject of trade speculation as the team appears headed for a rebuild.
"You're wondering where he's going to land because we know that the Indianapolis Colts are going nowhere fast," Smith added.
The Colts entered Week 10 of the 2026 NFL season with a 2-6 record, placing them third in the AFC South.
The Dallas Cowboys, meanwhile, were 3-5 and second in the NFC East.

Smith made his assessment even more pointed by saying the Cowboys' defensive struggles would not stop them from beating Indianapolis.
"Anybody can beat them," Smith said of the Colts.
"Anybody can beat them, including the chaos, the dysfunctional bunch that is the Dallas Cowboys, with the worst third-down defence, the worst run defence, the worst total defence and just a horrible defence overall."
"The Dallas Cowboys can still beat the Indianapolis Colts."
Smith's comments came ahead of a Week 10 matchup between the two teams scheduled for Sunday, November 8, 2026.
The Colts have not made the playoffs since the 2020 season, when they lost in the wild-card round to the Buffalo Bills.
Since then, the franchise has cycled through quarterbacks Carson Wentz, Matt Ryan, and Anthony Richardson without finding stability at the position.

Richardson, selected fourth overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, has shown flashes but has also dealt with injuries and inconsistency.
Ballard's firing marked the end of a tenure that began in 2017, during which the Colts posted a 54-60-1 regular-season record and made the playoffs twice.
Head coach Shane Steichen, hired in 2023 after serving as offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles, has a 14-19-1 record entering Week 10.
The Cowboys, despite their own struggles, have been to the playoffs in three of the last five seasons, though they have not advanced past the divisional round since 1995.
Smith's ranking of the two teams reflects a broader view among analysts that the Colts lack both direction and talent.
He did not mention any other team as being worse than the Cowboys in his remarks.
The Colts will have a chance to prove Smith wrong when they face the Cowboys this Sunday.
Whether Jonathan Taylor is still on the roster by then remains an open question.
