Alan Cumming Spills on His Holiday Hot Takes and Epic ‘The Traitors’ Finale

Alan Cumming is having a moment.
He’s fronting Old Navy’s 2026 holiday campaign, titled “All Aboard the Jingle Jet.”
The campaign stars Cumming alongside Meg Stalter, Paris Hilton, Charli D’Amelio, True Whitaker, Vidya Gopalan & Family, and Magic the Dog.
In the video ad, Cumming plays a flight attendant.
He wears a cobalt blue double-breasted suit jacket, matching trousers, and a steward hat with red trim.
The cast travels on a red plaid-decorated airplane, carrying Performance Fleeces and Jingle Jammies.
Cumming says he’s looking forward to gifting those items this year.
But his favorite piece from the campaign is a striped yellow sweater — which he gave to himself.
“I really loved how fun, camp, and witty it was,” Cumming told InStyle in early November.
He says the campaign “clicked” with his personality.

It also offered a full-circle moment.
“This year, I did a musical that I wrote with my friend based on a sitcom we’d written 30 years ago in Britain called The High Life, and we were flight attendants,” Cumming said.
“It was nice to end the year as a flight attendant as well as beginning it as one.”
Cumming spoke to InStyle while looking cozy in a navy blue cardigan, dark pants, black sneakers, and red circular eyeglasses.
He reflected on the holidays.
“The holidays are about getting together with people you love, and also having time to look back and process what’s happened,” he said.
“I had such an incredible year of doing things that I’m really grateful for and excited about.”
Despite traveling for much of the year, Cumming is a home-for-the-holidays person.
“This holiday season, I’m going to be in my beautiful house in Scotland that I love so much,” he said with a warm smile.
“I love being able to be at home, stuff your face, watch movies, and have people over.”

“The way that time stops is so attractive to me after my usual life.”
His go-to holiday film is the classic “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
When asked about his festive evening style, Cumming described it as “a combo of comfort and pizzazz.”
“That’s my absolute perfect fashion genre,” he said.
Cumming also teased the upcoming finale of “The Traitors,” the hit reality competition series he hosts.
He called it “epic.”
He revealed his dream casting for the show and named one alum he’d love to hang out with again.
Beyond the holiday campaign and the show, Cumming has a major theater project coming up.
His award-winning musical “A History of Paper” will transfer to New York for its US premiere in February 2027.
The production stars Cumming alongside Shirley Henderson.

It will run for a strictly limited 13-week engagement at Stage 42, from February 12 to May 16, 2027.
The musical charts a love story through physical paper artifacts — letters, postcards, shopping lists, train tickets, and menus.
It began as a BBC Radio 4 play by Oliver Emanuel in 2017.
It was developed with composer Gareth Williams at Dundee Rep Theatre.
It premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2024, where it won a Fringe First Award.
Cumming selected it as part of his inaugural season as Artistic Director at Pitlochry Festival Theatre.
“I am so thrilled to bring A History of Paper from my home country of Scotland to my adopted home in New York City,” Cumming said.
“This is one of these rare shows that transcends its own story and manages to touch an audience in a really visceral and beautiful way.”
“And it utterly belongs in New York City.”
He added: “Since taking over as Artistic Director at Pitlochry Festival Theatre it has been my plan (and dream) to start a theatrical exchange channel between Manhattan and our theatre in the hills.”

“This is the first show to do so and I couldn’t be happier to be doing it alongside Shirley, who I first worked with over forty years ago!”
Shirley Henderson also shared her excitement.
“When Alan whispered backstage to me that we might be taking our show A History of Paper to New York, my heart skipped a beat,” she said.
“In that moment, I felt excited, a little scared but happy to be holding hands with Alan as we take this beautiful piece of writing with sweet music on the next part of its journey.”
“I never imagined it was possible to have the opportunity to step onto the New York stage.”
“I am glad it’s with my lovely friend Alan Cumming.”
The production is a co-production with Sonia Friedman Productions, Jerry Goehring and Pemberley Productions.
It marks the first Off-Broadway transfer from either Pitlochry Festival Theatre or Dundee Rep Theatre.
Andrew Panton, Artistic Director of Dundee Rep Theatre, directs.
“Creating this show with Alan, Shirley and our amazing creative team has been a dream,” Panton said.
Cumming’s year has been packed with milestones.
From starring in a holiday campaign to hosting a hit show to bringing a Scottish musical to New York, he shows no signs of slowing down.
For now, he’s looking forward to a quiet holiday at home in Scotland.
But his fans have plenty to look forward to in the new year.
