Ben Shelton and Tommy Paul Collide in Paris Quarterfinal Fireworks

Ben Shelton vs. Tommy Paul: Paris Masters Quarterfinal Preview & Betting Odds.
An all-American showdown is set in Paris.
Ben Shelton and Tommy Paul will battle for a place in the semifinals at the Rolex Paris Masters.
The match is scheduled for the quarterfinal round on November 6, 2026.
Third seed Ben Shelton is competing in his 11th quarterfinal of the season.
He reached this stage after overcoming home favorite Arthur Rinderknech in a deciding-set tiebreak.
The final score was 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(5).
Shelton found himself 2-4 down in the final-set tiebreak before willing himself to victory, triumphing 7-5.
Following that third-round contest at the Plenitude Arena, Shelton was asked about the court speeds at the Paris Masters.
An ATP spokesperson asked Shelton: “Since they started measuring court speed on tour, this is the quickest court there’s been. How is that transferring to the game and to your game?”
Shelton disagreed with the notion that Paris owns the fastest courts on the Tour.

“I don’t agree. I think Basel last week was faster,” Shelton stated.
“I think Cincinnati was also faster, but that’s just me.”
According to Tennis Abstract, the 2025 Paris Masters had a surface speed rating of 0.94.
That rating falls in the bottom half of court speed measurements across all ATP Tour events.
However, Tennis Abstract has not yet published its court speed data for the 2026 Paris Masters.
“But yeah, it’s something to get used to,” Shelton continued.
“I normally like a slower, high-bouncing, hard court. My game is also very effective on the surface if I can feel more and more comfortable, which I do each year, and just trying to get one per cent better each day.”
Shelton recently hired Juan Carlos Ferrero as his new coach.
“I feel that my game has cleaned up so much that I’m able to extend points on the surface, handle pace a little bit better, return better, and I think that makes all the difference,” Shelton said.
Tommy Paul, the 12th seed, comes into the quarterfinal on a dominant run.
He has defeated all three of his opponents in straight sets so far in Paris.

His most recent win came against another home hope, Quentin Halys.
Not only is a spot in the semifinal at stake for Paul.
He is also battling for qualification in the Race to Turin.
Paul needs a deep run in Paris to keep his hopes of reaching the Nitto ATP Finals alive.
The Nitto ATP Finals is the season-ending championship featuring the top eight singles players and doubles teams on the ATP Tour.
Players earn points throughout the season based on their performance at tournaments, and the top eight in the Race qualify for the Finals.
Paul entered the Paris Masters with a slim chance of qualifying, and every match is critical.
Both players enter the match chasing their first-ever Paris semifinal appearance.
This sets the stage for what promises to be an exciting match.
The career head-to-head record between Ben Shelton and Tommy Paul is tied at 2-2.
They most recently faced at the 2024 Dallas Open semifinal.

Paul won that match 6-2, 6-4.
Ahead of the contest, Shelton said he is expecting fireworks.
“It’s been a long time since we’ve been on the court, but I’m looking forward to it,” Shelton told the ATP website.
“He’s in great form right now. A great player, a great friend. I’ve been rooting for him all year to make a push and make it to Turin. It will be fireworks tomorrow.”
The match is the first quarterfinal at 2 p.m. local time on November 6, 2026.
Shelton’s projected path to the Paris Masters title includes a potential semifinal against Lorenzo Musetti and a possible final against Carlos Alcaraz.
