Brewers Star Snubs Unicorn Chase, Reveals Campaign Secrets

The Milwaukee Brewers announced their 2026 BBWAA Award winners today.

This comes just days after the team won its first-ever World Series championship on October 28.

The Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in the series.

World Series MVP went to catcher William Contreras, brother of former Cubs catcher Willson Contreras.

Pitcher Jacob Misiorowski threw 5 1/2 dominant innings in the clinching game.

Rookie Cooper Pratt set a new record for rookies in the World Series with six consecutive hits.

The championship parade took place on October 30 in Milwaukee.

Throngs of happy people clogged the streets for the celebration.

Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley rode near the front of the parade in an open-air car.

A plane overhead flew a sign saying Crowley helped save the Brewers.

A woman on the sidewalk handed out Crowley yard signs.

But one prominent Wisconsin political figure was absent from the entire event.

Congressman Tom Tiffany was not at the Brewers parade or rally.

Instead, he was campaigning up north in small towns.

A reporter from Wisconsin Right Now noticed Tiffany's absence and asked why.

She wrote to Tiffany's PR person asking if the team had dissed him.

The PR person did not respond.

The reporter also asked to join Tiffany's bus tour for a day to capture him behind the scenes.

They never followed up on that request either.

Tiffany himself was kind when the reporter met him at an event.

He talked her ear off and was very pleasant.

But the campaign staff saw no importance in engaging with that media outlet.

This was despite the outlet's significant reach into the populous WOW counties.

WOW stands for Waukesha, Washington and Ozaukee counties.

Those are key Republican-leaning suburbs west and north of Milwaukee.

Eventually, a different Tiffany campaign operative did call back.

That operative got instantly huffy when asked about the Brewers parade.

He explained that skipping the parade was their strategy all along.

Why go to a Brewers rally with a bunch of liberal officials who hate them, the operative argued.

Tiffany could not cancel his northern Wisconsin appearances for that, the man insisted.

They were going to seven little towns, and rural Wisconsin was their play.

The reporter asked how many people collectively would be at those seven stops.

The operative got testy at that question.

He did not seem to understand why appearing at the Brewers hoopla would have been a good idea.

To the reporter, the positive Brewers celebration seemed like something a future governor would want to do.

It seemed like something everyone should unite around for the good of the state.

There were thousands of people at the parade, many from the WOW counties.

This was proven by the fact that Governor Tony Evers got booed when he appeared.

The reporter heard a guy scoff and mock Crowley as he strolled past the woman with the yard signs.

The reporter suggested they should have put Tiffany in a Contreras jersey.

The BBWAA awards announced today add another layer to the Brewers' historic run.

The Baseball Writers' Association of America votes on multiple annual awards.

These include Most Valuable Player, Cy Young, Rookie of the Year, and Manager of the Year.

The Brewers' winners reflect their dominant 2026 season.

The franchise began in 1969 as the Seattle Pilots before moving to Milwaukee in 1970.

They had never won a World Series before this year.

The 2026 championship ended a 57-year wait for the organization and its fans.

Tiffany's decision to skip the parade now looks like a significant campaign misstep.

He was running for governor of Wisconsin in the 2026 election.

The primary election was held earlier this year.

Tiffany lost his bid for the Republican nomination.

His absence from the Brewers celebration became a symbol of his campaign's strategic failures.

The campaign postmortem reveals a team that prioritized rural stops over visible urban events.

It shows a disconnect between the campaign's assumptions and voter reality.

The WOW counties are crucial for any Republican hoping to win statewide office.

Thousands of voters from those counties were at the Brewers parade.

Tiffany chose to visit towns so small their entire populations would fit inside Arrowhead High School.

Arrowhead High School is in Hartland, Wisconsin, in Waukesha County.

That school has an enrollment of about 2,000 students.

The seven small towns combined likely had fewer people than the parade crowd.
