Bryson DeChambeau Gets Major DPWT Offer to Sidestep PGA Tour Ban

Bryson DeChambeau has been offered a direct route back to the DP World Tour after LIV Golf’s collapse, bypassing the PGA Tour suspension that awaits him.
The offer, reported by The Telegraph, grants the two-time US Open winner full playing privileges in Europe for the 2027 season.
DeChambeau qualifies for the exemption because he won the 2024 US Open at Pinehurst.
That victory places him in Category 1 on the DP World Tour’s member list.
Category 1 status means he does not need to go through Q-School or rely on sponsor invitations.
He is the only LIV player without current membership who holds this exemption.

Other LIV players without status, such as Joaquin Niemann and Thomas Pieters, must qualify through Q-School or secure a set number of sponsor invites.
Those deals were only open to players who stayed out of LIV 2.0.
The offer comes as LIV Golf winds down after Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund stopped funding the league in April.
LIV filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on September 8.
A proposed $300 million rescue from BC Partners fell apart after Jon Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton and Sergio Garcia opted against the relaunch.
A bankruptcy judge had already rejected DeChambeau’s contract, making him a free agent.

On Thursday, the league’s board said in a statement: “In light of the current circumstances, we believe shifting toward an orderly wind-down is the most responsible path forward for the League at this time.”
The deadline for DeChambeau to submit his application for DP World Tour membership is November 16.
It is not yet known whether he will accept.
Accepting the DP World Tour offer would not automatically restore his PGA Tour membership.
DeChambeau faces a one-year suspension from the PGA Tour, running from his last LIV start.
His last LIV event was August 23, 2026, so the ban would lapse on August 23, 2027, if he plays no more LIV events.

His PGA Tour exemption runs through 2029.
A strong 2027 campaign on the DP World Tour could earn him a PGA Tour card through the Race to Dubai standings for 2028.
Under the current system, the top 10 players on the Race to Dubai leaderboard who are not already PGA Tour members earn their cards for the following season.
Eugenio Chacarra followed that path after leaving LIV for the DP World Tour in 2024, securing his PGA Tour card for the 2026 season.
DeChambeau had been one of LIV’s most vocal supporters.
In January, he turned down the one-time PGA Tour return offer that Brooks Koepka accepted.

Days before LIV’s collapse, he told the Figuring Out podcast that a LIV 2.0 reboot would be “done right.”
He said: “The business model makes a lot of sense. It’s no funny business, no nothing.”
Jon Rahm, who left LIV last month, expects to serve his own one-year PGA Tour suspension before returning.
Rahm told reporters this week that he has not yet started conversations with the PGA Tour about what a return might look like.
DeChambeau has also suggested he could focus on his YouTube channel while continuing to contend in the majors, an idea experts have dismissed.
Rex Hoggard of the Golf Channel noted that the PGA Tour has been extremely cautious about any contact with LIV players.

“They will not talk to any player involved with LIV Golf until you can prove to them that your contract with LIV Golf and the PIF is over with legal documents,” Hoggard said.
“The Tour has been really careful, they don’t want any sign of tampering whatsoever.”
Hoggard added that Brian Rolapp, the CEO of the PGA Tour, would have a motivation to bring back players like DeChambeau, Rahm, or Cam Smith.
But he noted that those players were offered “essentially the same get out of jail free card” that was offered to Brooks Koepka.
Koepka accepted that offer and returned to the PGA Tour earlier this year.
DeChambeau’s future remains uncertain.
The DP World Tour offer gives him a playing path for 2027.
Whether he takes it — and whether he can find a way back to the PGA Tour — will depend on decisions he makes before the November 16 deadline.
