Harry Kane locks in massive Bayern deal through 2029

Harry Kane has signed a new contract with Bayern Munich that will keep him at the German club until June 30, 2029.

The England captain joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023.

He has scored 156 goals in 161 competitive appearances for the club.

During that time, he helped Bayern win two Bundesliga titles and the German Cup.

Bayern announced the extension on Thursday.

The club did not disclose details of Kane's salary or other financial terms.

Reports in Germany have described the deal as the most lucrative in the club's history.

Sky Germany reported that the striker will earn at least €25 million annually.

That figure would make Kane one of, if not the, highest paid player in Europe.

Bayern is a rare superclub that does not go absolutely insane with their finances.

They can offer tons of cash to players for both wages and transfer fees.

But generally, we don't see ginormous contracts for Bayern players compared to PSG, Barcelona, or Real Madrid.

So making the extension for a 33-year-old Kane the most lucrative deal in Bayern history says a lot.

Not that there was ever a chance that he was going to return to Tottenham Hotspur this summer or likely ever.

This is a deal that has been very publicly in the works for weeks now.

It is certainly not a surprise that he has decided to extend his stay in Munich for three more seasons.

In David Ornstein's Athletic article about the new contract, he quotes Kane saying that this was more or less a foregone conclusion.

Kane said they were just hammering out the details.

“I’m extremely happy, but as always, I want to be competing for the best trophies, the biggest trophies, I want to be playing for a team that’s challenging for the top honors,” Kane said in a statement on Bayern's website.

“And that’s exactly where I feel I am right now.

“We have an amazing team, great coach, great staff, everyone pushing in the right direction.

“So for me, it was not much thought into it.

“We signed the contract yesterday, but to be honest, the decision was pretty much made quite a long time ago.

“We didn’t want to talk too much during the World Cup.

“We wanted to focus on that, but from when we come back and started discussions with everyone here, I knew I was going to sign.”

Kane also said: “I feel right at home at FC Bayern.

“I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich.

“We have a fantastic team and, in Vincent Kompany, a fantastic manager.

“It makes me very proud to be part of this club.

“My whole family is very happy here.

“I was keen to stay.

“I’m now looking forward to the future, and I want to win many more titles with this great club.”

The contract extension follows the most productive season of Kane's career.

During the 2025-26 campaign, he scored 73 goals in 65 appearances for Bayern and England.

He scored 61 goals for Bayern across all competitions.

That included 36 in the Bundesliga, 10 in the German Cup and 14 in the Champions League.

His performances helped Bayern retain the Bundesliga title, win the German Cup and lift the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup.

Kane also scored 12 goals for England, including six at the 2026 World Cup.

He captained the Three Lions to third place in that tournament.

His performances earned him the 2026 Ballon d'Or.

That made him the first Englishman to win the award in 25 years.

He also received the Gerd Müller Trophy as the world's best striker.

Kane's Champions League scoring streak ended on Tuesday as Bayern beat Atletico Madrid 2-0 at the Allianz Arena.

The England captain failed to score in that match but set up Konrad Laimer for the second goal.

It was a rare frustration for the forward, fresh from his first Ballon d'Or.

Bayern took control through Lennart Karl, before Laimer's strike sealed the win.

Kane's sequence finished at 10 successive Champions League appearances with a goal.

He had moved within one of the all-time best by converting a penalty against Arsenal on matchday three.

The run began in the 2025-26 campaign with a brace against Union Saint-Gilloise on matchday seven.

Then a goal against PSV Eindhoven.
