The 70-year-old matriarch opened up about her private fear during a recent doctor visit with her daughter.

For the famous family, the medical appointment stirred up painful memories of an unbearable past loss.

Kim Kardashian is currently undergoing treatment and extensive testing for irregularities discovered inside her esophagus.

The health battle was detailed on the Nov. 5 episode of Hulu's reality series, The Kardashians.

Kris accompanied the 46-year-old Skims founder directly into the examination room to assess the situation.

As Kim explained during the episode, the visit was scheduled to determine whether her prescribed treatment plan was succeeding.

"We’re here to see if the esophagitis has gotten worse or better with the medication they gave me," Kim explained.

Her doctor revealed that specialists are actively monitoring her condition for any signs of pre-cancerous development.

That specific possibility represents a terrifying prospect for the entire Kardashian household.

A HAUNTING FAMILY HISTORY

Kim previously disclosed that she has long worried about her esophageal health due to family history.

Her father, Robert Kardashian, tragically passed away from esophageal cancer in 2003.

The prominent attorney was only 59 years old when he succumbed to the illness.

Even more distressing for the family was the extreme speed at which Robert’s disease progressed.

Robert died just eight weeks after receiving his official esophageal cancer diagnosis.

Kim revealed during the episode that her father had suffered from gastroesophageal reflux disease, widely known as GERD.

During Kim’s consultation, her physician explained that GERD stands as the leading cause of esophageal cancer.

Earlier in the current season, the reality star shared with viewers that she had been diagnosed with esophagitis.

According to the Mayo Clinic, esophagitis produces swelling and irritation, known as inflammation, within the tissues lining the esophagus.

While GERD is the primary culprit behind the condition, it can also stem from an accumulation of white blood cells or specific medications.

FACING SURGERY OR MEDICATION

Kim outlined the two stark outcomes she faces depending on how her body responds to the current pharmaceutical regimen.

In a candid confessional, the mother of four laid out the stakes of her ongoing medical evaluations.

"I’m hopeful. It is what it is," Kim stated during her on-camera interview.

"They’re either gonna say, ‘Hey, the irregularities have not gone away from the medication and you need to have a piece of your esophagus removed,’" she explained.

"Or, they’re gonna say, ‘The medication worked and you don’t need the procedure and just continue on this medication.’"

The prospect of invasive surgery remains on the table if the inflammation fails to subside under prescription care.

"Obviously, I don’t want surgery, but I’ll do whatever’s necessary," Kim said.

While Kim maintains a pragmatic outlook toward the situation, her mother is finding the uncertainty difficult to bear.

Kris admitted that navigating Kim's health ordeal has proven to be "really stressful" behind closed doors.

The memory of Robert's rapid decline continues to loom large over every single doctor visit.

"So of course I’m scared," Kris confessed.

"I don’t want to tell her I’m scared, but it’s very worrisome," the matriarch revealed.

"We just pray for the best," Kris added.

"Do not let that tiny body fool you: She eats everything," Niecy told the audience.

"I said, 'This is prop food! Why are you eating this?' This is the greediest woman I've ever met in my life."

"We don't want to eat it all day," Sarah explained.

"It's a thing called continuity," Naomi pointed out.

"If you eat it in the scene, you have to keep doing it," the seasoned actress added.

"Because I'm new to this, they tried to tell me, 'Hey, continuity. Pace yourself. Eat a grape or half a grape because you're gonna have to do that the same time 50 times,'" Kim explained.

"By the end, I am like, 'What did I get myself into?' But I love it."

Away from the cameras, Kim extended her love of food by making homemade treats for the entire ensemble.

"Last night in my room, I made Rice Krispie treats because I wanted all the girls to try them," Kim shared.
