Lomachenko Ends Retirement, Signs Top Rank Deal for 2027

Vasiliy Lomachenko has ended his retirement and will return to the ring in early 2027 under a multi-year co-promotional agreement between Top Rank and his newly formed Loma Power Promotions.
The three-division world champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist plans to compete at super featherweight.
Becoming undisputed champion is the driving ambition behind his comeback.
Top Rank confirmed the agreement in a November 5 announcement.
Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs) returns to the company that has promoted him since his professional debut in 2013.
This time, his own promotional organization will be part of the arrangement as he begins another pursuit of the one championship distinction still missing from his career.
THE RETIREMENT THAT DIDN'T LAST
Lomachenko announced his retirement on June 5, 2025.
He had won world titles at featherweight, super featherweight and lightweight.
His last appearance came in May 2024, when he stopped George Kambosos Jr. to capture the IBF lightweight championship.
Rather than resume his campaign at lightweight, Lomachenko is returning to super featherweight.

The move makes his comeback a fresh championship pursuit in a division where he has already held a world title.
WHAT TOP RANK SAID
Top Rank chairman Bob Arum welcomed the decision and highlighted the shared ambition behind the new agreement.
"Vasiliy is one of the most gifted fighters I've ever promoted, and I'm delighted he's returning to the ring," Arum said.
"He's accomplished so much, but he's determined to become undisputed."
"There's tremendous talent at super featherweight, and we're looking forward to working with Loma Power Promotions to put on some terrific fights."
LOMACHENKO'S OWN WORDS
Lomachenko said he had believed his boxing career was finished.
In explaining his change of direction, he credited his faith and the continuing support of longtime manager Egis Klimas.
"God works in mysterious ways," Lomachenko said.
"I thought I would never step back into the ring again as a boxer."
"But our Lord Jesus Christ had other plans for me."

"I'm happy to be living this boxing life once again."
"I'm grateful to everyone who is once again part of this journey."
"Special respect and gratitude to Egis, who, despite my firm belief that my boxing career was over, never stopped believing that we would step into the ring again."
EGIS KLIMAS WEIGHS IN
Klimas, Lomachenko's manager, expressed his confidence in the fighter's return.
"I'm so happy Vasiliy has decided to return to the ring," Klimas said.
"He still has unfinished business and a dream that means so much to him: becoming the undisputed champion."
"I've never stopped believing in him, and I'm proud to stand beside him as he gives to that dream everything he has, and I strongly believe his comeback will bring tremendous joy to his team and, most of all, to his fans."
THE UNDISPUTED PURSUIT
Lomachenko has been the lineal champion in multiple divisions.
He has yet to become undisputed, which is his definitive goal upon returning.
He fought at lightweight from 2018 to his retirement in 2024.

As one of the organization's former champions, Lomachenko could realistically find himself in an IBF lightweight title fight, with the title currently vacant.
The undisputed pursuit would lead him into one of the three other champions — William Zepeda (WBC), Abdullah Mason (WBO) and Floyd Schofield Jr. (WBA).
However, Lomachenko has been heavily linked to a return fight at 130 pounds, where he once held the WBO title.
His name has been connected to recent title challenger Charly Suarez for his initial return fight.
THE FIGHT DATE
Lomachenko is expected to have his first fight on February 13, 2027.
That date was reported by Yahoo Sports and confirmed by multiple outlets.
THE RECORD AND LEGACY
Lomachenko retired with an 18-3 record.
He went 4-2 in his last six fights, including memorable losses to Teofimo Lopez and Devin Haney.
All three of the former champion's losses remain heavily debated to this day.
Many still view him as one of the best boxers in the 21st century.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR BOXING
Lomachenko's return adds a major name to the super featherweight division.
The division already features multiple champions and rising contenders.
A successful run toward undisputed status would cement his legacy further.
It also gives Top Rank a marquee attraction for early 2027.
The co-promotional structure with Loma Power Promotions is a new element.
It gives Lomachenko more control over his career than he had before.
WHAT'S NEXT
The February 13 date is the target, but opponents have not been officially named.
Charly Suarez remains a possibility for the return fight.
Longer-term, the goal is to unify titles at 130 pounds.
Lomachenko will turn 39 in February 2027, adding urgency to his campaign.
Time is not on his side, but his skill set has aged well.
The boxing world will watch closely to see if he can achieve the one thing that has eluded him.
