Meghan Markle shares new update as family scandal deepens

Meghan Markle has added another seasonal offering to her As Ever pantry range.

The Duchess of Sussex’s lifestyle brand launched the new fig spread just in time for the holiday season on Thursday.

Sharing the news on Instagram, As Ever described the latest addition as “a taste of the holidays.”

The brand focused on its rich, naturally honeyed flavour and jammy texture.

“Delicate figs are simmered into a luscious spread, with jammy notes and subtle sweetness,” the brand said.

The fig spread is now available on the website.

It can also be purchased as part of two seasonal sets.

The Holiday Trio pairs the fig spread with apple spread and orange marmalade.

The Fig Trio offers three fig spreads for those looking to stock up on the seasonal favourite.

The launch comes as Meghan continues to build product offering.

She has kept the brand active with new releases despite spending less time in the public spotlight.

The timing coincides with deepening turmoil in her family.

Philippine authorities have named Meghan’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., as a person of interest in the investigation involving her father, Thomas Markle Sr.

Philippine interior and local government secretary Jonvic Remulla said there were “signs that point that the son is involved in the crime as well.”

Mr. Remulla said that Thomas Markle Jr. was not being treated as a suspect.

“We’re determining if son is involved,” Mr. Remulla said.

“There are signs that point that the son is involved in the crime as well but only as a person of interest so far.”

“We will know in the next few days.”

Mr. Markle Jr., who remains in the Philippines, prompted the initial investigation into his father.

He reportedly handed over electronic devices and other belongings to police after allegedly discovering disturbing material.

More than 7,000 photos and one video were uncovered, Mr. Remulla said.

All depicted under-age males and females of Asian, Latin and European descent.

Some of the children were as young as 10 and 11.

Mr. Remulla described the images as “the most deplorable displays of impunity towards sexual activity that I have ever seen.”

Philippine police said child sexual abuse material had been found on a mobile phone and three memory cards handed over by Thomas Markle Sr.

Last week, authorities said they were investigating a laptop found alongside images depicting child abuse at a property believed to be the 82-year-old’s former residence.

Philippine national police chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jnr said “appropriate legal actions” would be taken if sufficient evidence were found.

Officials also revealed 7,500 files involving minors were recovered from electronic devices.

Thomas Markle Jr. is not a suspect, and investigators are seeking FBI assistance to establish who owned the devices.

Thursday’s development followed reports Markle Jr. had also alerted the FBI to two storage units in Los Angeles.
