Mormon Wives Star Files for Divorce While 8 Months Pregnant

Just days before the premiere of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County, Jen Affleck officially filed for divorce from Zac Affleck, who reportedly did not film any scenes for the new spinoff.
Court documents obtained by TMZ show Jen filed a petition for divorce on Tuesday in Utah.
She also submitted a proposed parenting plan, though the details of the filing remain private.
The couple shares three children: Nora, born in 2021; Lucas, born in 2023; and Penelope, born in July 2025.
Jen is currently eight months pregnant with their fourth child.
The filing comes seven years after the couple met on the Mormon dating app Mutual in 2018.
They got engaged within a year and married in June 2019.
No reason for the split was listed in the court records.
No custody agreement has been publicly disclosed either.
Neither Jen nor Zac has made a public statement about the divorce.
A source told People that Zac is “doing okay.”
“He and Jen are staying focused on preparing for the baby and supporting their kids,” the source added.
The timing of the filing has drawn attention because of its proximity to the spinoff premiere.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County is set to debut next week on Hulu.
According to TMZ, Zac did not film any scenes for the new show.
The spinoff was shot months before the divorce news broke.

Us Weekly confirmed that Jen is featured heavily in the new series.
Zac’s absence from the production now reads as a clear signal of the couple’s separation.
The couple’s marital struggles have been a central storyline on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives since it premiered in 2024.
Season one highlighted the challenges Jen and Zac faced after welcoming two children.
That season ended with a brief offscreen separation.
They reconciled before Penelope’s birth in July 2025.
By season five, which aired in September 2026, tensions had resurfaced.
Zac’s reaction to Jen’s interest in a Sports Illustrated photo shoot became a flashpoint.
“Zac was taught growing up to not only be modest himself but for it to be an expectation for women around him,” Jen said during the season, per Page Six.
“Definitely been hard navigating [her] career goals while also honoring Zac’s traditional values and traditional views.”
“I feel like if he truly loved me unconditionally, he would want to support me, and I don’t even feel like there’s a conversation of a compromise,” she added.
Jen had previously said the couple attended therapy nonstop after the first season aired.
“Since filming, we’ve done therapy nonstop,” she told Vulture in September 2024.
“If we continue in our relationship, there are changes that need to be made.”
“If they’re not made, we might have to … look at other options,” she said.
In June 2026, Jen announced her fourth pregnancy on Instagram, calling it “Chapter Four.”
In July, she shared that she was suffering from prenatal depression, calling it “painful, confusing, and exhausting.”
She later told People that she was “deathly ill” during her first trimester and that Zac had to step up.
“There’s a lot that we’ve been navigating behind closed doors,” she said, “but I do have to say, I wouldn’t have survived the first trimester without him.”
Despite those statements, the couple’s public appearances and social media posts had raised questions among fans.
Eagle-eyed viewers noticed that Jen and Zac rarely posted about each other in recent months.
In August 2026, Jen shared nostalgic posts about her wedding day, captioning one: “’I don’t want to erase her. I want to honor her.’ She didn’t know everything that was ahead of her. But she loved, she grew, she became. And I’m grateful for every version of her.”
The divorce filing now reframes those posts as signs of a marriage in transition.
The spinoff, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County, follows Jen and other cast members after their move from Utah to California.
The family relocated to Orange County earlier this year.
Jen is scheduled to star in the series, which will presumably address the end of her marriage.
Whether Zac’s absence from the show will be explained on camera remains unclear.
The show’s producers have not commented on the divorce or the timing of the filing.
For fans of the franchise, the situation raises questions about what the new season will reveal.
The first season of Mormon Wives built much of its drama around the couple’s private struggles.
The spinoff was expected to continue that thread, with the added pressure of a new baby and a new city.
Now, with a divorce filing and Zac entirely absent from the footage, the season’s narrative arc has shifted before the first episode airs.

The couple’s oldest child, Nora, just turned 5, meaning Jen has been raising young children while navigating a high-profile reality TV career and a failing marriage.
Jen’s pregnancy adds another layer of complexity to the timeline.
She is due to give birth around the time the spinoff airs its first episodes.
The divorce filing means she will likely handle the birth and postpartum period as a single mother, at least legally.
Whether the couple will reconcile again, as they did after season one, is unknown.
But the filing of a proposed parenting plan suggests a more formal separation than the previous break.
Zac’s decision not to participate in the spinoff may have been a practical choice to avoid filming during a personal crisis, or it may reflect a deeper rift that predated the divorce filing.
Either way, his absence has become a key piece of evidence for fans trying to piece together the timeline.
The Afflecks are not related to actor Ben Affleck, despite the shared surname.
The couple met through Mutual, a dating app designed for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Their faith has been a recurring theme on the show, with Jen discussing the pressure to maintain a picture-perfect Mormon marriage.
The divorce filing challenges that image publicly.
In Mormon culture, divorce carries additional social weight, and the couple’s decision to file while expecting a child is particularly notable.
The spinoff’s premiere was already one of the most anticipated reality TV events of the fall.
The divorce news has only intensified interest.
