Nicki Minaj's Lawyers Try to Quit Her Case Mid-Legal Battle

Nicki Minaj's Lawyers Try to Quit Her Case Mid-Legal Battle

Nicki Minaj is facing a new legal headache after her own attorneys asked a judge for permission to withdraw from representing her in an active lawsuit.

The law firm Kurzman Eisenberg Corbin & Lever filed the request in court, according to documents obtained by TMZ.

The firm was hired to defend Minaj and her company Pink Friday Productions in a lawsuit filed by another company called 24/7 Productions.

In the filing, the lawyers argue that there are “irreconcilable differences” with the rapper.

They say the breakdown is related to defense strategy and a major failure in communication.

The attorneys claim the professional relationship has deteriorated to the point where it is no longer feasible to continue.

The situation has reportedly become so complicated that the firm had difficulty even notifying Minaj of their decision to withdraw.

The court documents state that the lawyers struggled to communicate their motion to the singer.

This request still needs to be approved by a judge before it takes effect.

Until then, the law firm officially remains Minaj’s legal representative.

The underlying dispute stems from a claim by 24/7 Productions.

That lawsuit accuses Minaj and her company of failing to reimburse more than $200,000 in expenses.

The plaintiff says those expenses were incurred during the production of Minaj’s album ‘Pink Friday 2.’

The album was released in December 2023 and was a commercial success.

But the legal fight over its production costs is now threatening to leave Minaj without her chosen defense team.

This is not the only legal front Minaj has open.

A separate law firm, Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, is also seeking payment from the rapper.

That firm is pursuing around $295,605 from Minaj and her company Harajuku Barbie Music LLC.

The money is for legal services provided in a dispute over alleged copyright infringement.

The infringement claim involves the song ‘I Lied.’

That case adds another layer of financial pressure to Minaj’s current legal situation.

Together, the two matters represent hundreds of thousands of dollars in potential liability.

The news comes at a politically charged moment for Minaj.

She has become one of the most vocal celebrity supporters of President Donald Trump.

On Election Day, Nov. 3, 2026, Minaj posted an image on X that appeared to be an AI-generated picture of the horror doll Chucky wearing a “Vote Red” sticker.

She accompanied the image with the message: “HAPPY ELECTION DAY!!!”

The post was intended to encourage her followers to vote Republican.

But it quickly drew a sharp response from Don Mancini, the creator of the Child’s Play franchise.

Mancini posted his own rebuttal on X, calling the Republican Chucky an “IMPOSTER.”

He wrote: “Chucky has a trans kid. Chucky protects the dolls. Chucky is anti-ICE. Chucky says ‘A BLUE WAVE’ is coming, as BLUE as my f**kin’ eyes!”

Mancini included a photo of an actual Chucky doll holding a doll of Glen/Glenda.

Glen/Glenda is a gender-fluid character in the Chucky franchise.

The character was first introduced in the 2004 film ‘Seed of Chucky’ as the child of Chucky and Tiffany.

In later television series, the character’s gender identity was explored more explicitly.

A scene in the TV show includes Chucky saying he has “a queer kid.”

Mancini’s response was not a one-off political jab.

It was rooted in the franchise’s long history of queer representation.

In a 2022 interview with Them, Mancini said queer material began entering the series with ‘Bride of Chucky.’

He described support from producer David Kirschner for gay, queer and nonbinary characters.

After the election results became clear, Mancini returned to X with another post.

He wrote: “Too bad, Nicki!” alongside a picture of the same doll with blue hair.

He added: “No AI, by the way! #bluewave”

Minaj did not respond directly to Mancini.

But she did issue a broader statement after the Democratic wave became clear.

She reminded followers that Trump is still President and told them to “stay tuned and stay MAD.”

The exchange highlights the intersection of Minaj’s political advocacy and her legal troubles.

Trump has shown support for the rapper at several political events.

There have even been reports that Trump is considering Minaj for the position of White House Press Secretary.

Those reports remain unconfirmed and speculative.

But they reflect the close alignment between the rapper and the President.

The legal situation, however, may complicate any potential political role.

A high-profile legal battle with multiple active fronts does not typically lend itself to a government position.

Minaj’s fans have been watching the developments closely.

Many have expressed concern that the legal problems could distract from her music career.

Others have speculated about the nature of the “irreconcilable differences” with her lawyers.

Court filings in such cases are often sealed or vague to protect attorney-client privilege.

The judge overseeing the case will have to decide whether to grant the withdrawal request.

If the request is approved, Minaj will need to find new legal representation quickly.

That could delay the proceedings and add to her legal costs.

If the request is denied, she will be stuck with a legal team that has publicly stated it cannot work with her.

Either outcome presents significant challenges.
