Sami Zayn's Bold Claim Before Crown Jewel Clash With Reigns

Sami Zayn has made a bold claim ahead of his Undisputed WWE Championship match against Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel 2026.
Speaking to Cathy Kelley on the Crown Jewel Countdown show, Zayn said: "No one, no one in the history of this business has done more with less than I have. No one. And it's not even close, okay? It's not even close."
The statement came during a wide-ranging interview where Zayn addressed his critics, his career path, and his mindset heading into one of the biggest matches of his life.
Zayn is the current Undisputed WWE Champion.
He will face Roman Reigns, the World Heavyweight Champion, at Crown Jewel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The match is for the Crown Jewel Championship, a title that combines both men's individual championships.
Zayn and Reigns have a deep history together.
Zayn was once part of the Bloodline as the "Honorary Uce."
He turned on Reigns at the 2023 Royal Rumble by hitting him with a steel chair.
That betrayal set off a rivalry that has simmered for years.
Now, they will stand across the ring from each other with everything on the line.
Zayn did not stop at the "more with less" claim.
He also went after Reigns' mental state.
"I know there's that self-doubt because he's human. He's human," Zayn said.
"I don't care if you're the Tribal Chief. I don't care how much success you've had. You're still a human being."
Zayn argued that no one can walk into a ring with a WWE Champion and feel zero doubt.
"You cannot tell me that you're going into the ring with a WWE champion and there's zero self-doubt," he said.
"I know there's self-doubt there. He can play it however he wants. I don't care. I know there's self-doubt."
But Zayn admitted he feels doubt too.
"I'll tell you, I am telling you there's self-doubt," he said.
"But there's also a crazy amount of confidence, and I'm operating at a higher level now than I ever have been. So yes, absolutely, I think I can beat him."
Zayn contrasted his own approach with Reigns' public persona.
"I think he tries to carry himself a certain way. I think he tries to project a certain dominance, which has worked very well for himself," Zayn said.
"I'm in the same position and I have that confidence. I have a crazy amount of self-confidence."
Zayn then addressed those who doubted he would even make it to Crown Jewel.
"All these people trying to step to me. I tell them right in their face, all these people that have come and talked this big game about how I might not even make it to Crown Jewel," he said.
"Who's standing here right now going into Crown Jewel? I will chew these people up. I will spit them out because that's what I've done for 20 years."
The 20-year reference is key.
Zayn has been wrestling professionally for two decades.
He started on the independent circuit before joining WWE's NXT brand.
He won the NXT Championship in 2014.
He moved to the main roster in 2015.
For years, he was seen as a mid-card talent.
He held the Intercontinental Championship multiple times.
He was a fan favorite but rarely considered a main event player.
That changed in 2022 when he joined the Bloodline.

His arc as the conflicted Honorary Uce was critically praised.
His eventual betrayal of Reigns was one of the biggest moments in modern WWE.
Now, he holds the top championship in the company.
Zayn also addressed fans who have turned on him over the years.
"Maybe that's what people respond to because the way some of these fans have turned their backs on me over the years, because I thought they would get it, but they don't," Zayn said.
"They need to be spoonfed and told, 'I'm the greatest.' And then they go, 'Oh yeah, I guess he's the greatest.' I don't do that. It's just not in my nature."
He described himself as "heart on my sleeve."
"At the end of the day, I know how good I am," he said.
Zayn's claim about doing "more with less" is a direct challenge to the narrative of his own career.
He has never been presented as the physically dominant type.
He is not the largest wrestler on the roster.
He does not have the family legacy that Reigns has.
He built his career on technique, storytelling, and resilience.
That resilience is central to his message.
"The darkness that I have faced, any other man would've succumbed to it," Zayn said.
"Part of the reason why I am one of one is because anyone else would've succumbed to it. I chewed it up, spit it out, and I walked out with this on the other side."
Crown Jewel 2026 takes place on Saturday, November 7, 2026, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The event starts at 12:00 PM EST.
The card currently features four matches.
Beyond the main event, the show includes a Last Man Standing match between Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes.
There is also a World Tag Team Championship match pitting The Vision (Bron Breakker and Austin Theory) against Penta and Je'Von Evans.
Tiffany Stratton is expected to cash in her Money in the Bank contract, though the timing is unannounced.
There has been speculation that a Gunther vs. Finn Balor match may be added.
But all eyes are on the main event.
Reigns has been the face of WWE for years.
He held the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship for over 1,000 days before losing it to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40.
He won the World Heavyweight Championship in 2025.
Zayn won the Undisputed WWE Championship earlier in 2026.
This is the first time they have faced each other one-on-one since Zayn left the Bloodline.
The psychological warfare has been intense.
Both men have taken shots at each other in promos.
Zayn's latest interview is his most direct yet.
He has framed himself as the underdog who outworked everyone.
He has framed Reigns as the man who hides doubt behind dominance.
The question now is whether Zayn's confidence will carry him to victory.
Or whether Reigns will prove that the Tribal Chief is still the top of the mountain.
Either way, Saturday will settle the score.
