Todd Chrisley Defends Savannah Against Gold Digger Claims With a Joke

Todd Chrisley was spotted Tuesday in Nashville walking alongside his daughter Savannah’s new husband, Jason Galanis.
The “Chrisley Knows Best” star kept it casual in a pink quarter-zip sweater and khaki pants, carrying a drink as the pair made their way down the street.
The visit comes weeks after Todd admitted on a podcast that he initially struggled with Savannah’s relationship — particularly the 27-year age gap between the 29-year-old reality star and the 56-year-old businessman.
Todd told Bunnie Xo on her “Dumb Blonde” podcast that he eventually had to accept the romance or risk losing his daughter entirely.
He made it clear that nothing would come between them.
Savannah was also spotted out Tuesday, grabbing Chick-fil-A in Nashville while rocking a black crop top, baggy sweatpants and sneakers.
She is visibly pregnant with the couple’s first child — a baby boy.
Savannah and Jason secretly tied the knot in the Cayman Islands back in July, just two days before Jason’s 56th birthday.
The wedding came after about a year of dating.

There is another layer to this family dynamic that has drawn attention.
Todd and his new son-in-law actually served time at the same federal prison in Florida, with their sentences overlapping in 2023.
Both men were later granted clemency by President Trump.
Jason Galanis was sentenced in 2020 to more than 15 years in federal prison for his role in “two multimillion-dollar fraud schemes,” according to the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.
He had been a former associate of Hunter Biden.
In 2024, he testified during the Republican impeachment inquiry into former President Joe Biden.
A year later, in March 2025, President Donald Trump commuted his prison sentence.
Todd and his wife Julie Chrisley were convicted in 2022 of bank and tax fraud and were sentenced to a combined 19 years in prison.
President Trump pardoned them both in May 2025, two months after Jason’s sentence was commuted.

Savannah has faced intense public scrutiny since revealing her pregnancy, engagement and marriage all within the span of a week in late October.
Critics branded her a “gold digger” on social media, pointing to Jason’s billionaire status and the massive engagement ring she now wears.
Todd addressed those claims directly on the latest episode of his “Two Sons and Me” podcast.
“There were comments today in the press about Savannah’s ring, the size of it, that she is engaged to a billionaire because she’s a gold digger,” he said, according to People.
His mother, Nanny Faye Chrisley, jumped in with a joke.
“Oh, good. I don’t blame her. I’d dig, too. If I knew one and I stood a chance like her, I’d be digging 24/7, till I got him.”
Todd laughed and added his own punchline.
“Well, if she was a gold digger, I mean, it would have helped out if she would have started digging when I was paying all these legal fees.”
He went on to defend Savannah more seriously.

Todd said it’s “so crazy” that people would call her a gold digger when “she has her own money.”
“What do they think this girl has done her whole life, from the time that the cameras started rolling?” he asked.
“What do they think she did with her clothing line, with her cosmetics, that she didn’t make money?”
“What do they think about Good Girl RX?”
“How do they think this woman lives?”
Savannah herself has addressed the criticism.
On the Oct. 27 episode of her “Unlocked” podcast, she acknowledged the “huge” age gap in her relationship.
“That’s probably part of the reason why I kept a lot of it quiet, because I know how brutal the public can be,” she said.
“But I genuinely do not care.”

She added: “I have always said, ‘I would rather 20 phenomenal, unbelievable years with someone than 50 just meh years.’”
“The amount of love and respect that we have — we have so many dreams, and we dream together, we work together.”
She also posted a message to her unborn baby on Instagram Stories on Oct. 27.
“You are not a headline,” she wrote.
“You are not a controversy.”
“You are not defined by anyone’s past, anyone’s mistakes, or anyone’s opinions.”
“You are innocent, deeply loved, and the greatest blessing God could have ever entrusted your daddy and I with.”
“No amount of noise in this world will ever overshadow the joy of being your mama.”
“You are my answered prayer.”

“And I will never apologize for celebrating you.”
Savannah has continued to embrace her pregnancy publicly.
On Nov. 3, she was spotted at Chick-fil-A in Nashville, wearing gray sweatpants and a long-sleeved black T-shirt that rode up slightly, showing her baby bump.
Days earlier, she attended the annual Mar-a-Lago Halloween party in a Tree of Life costume with a cutout around her stomach.
Todd’s in-person visit to Nashville appears to signal a shift in his acceptance of the marriage.
He had previously admitted he wasn’t exactly thrilled about the relationship.
But the sight of him walking down the street with Jason, drink in hand, suggests the family is moving forward together.
Savannah’s pregnancy cravings are keeping her busy — the Chick-fil-A run was just one of many fast food stops she has made public.
Meanwhile, the question of what comes next for the Chrisley family remains open.
Todd and Julie are adjusting to life after prison following their pardon.
Savannah is preparing to become a mother.
Jason is rebuilding his life after his commutation.
And the family is learning what it means to navigate all of it under the spotlight of reality television fame.
