Zac Affleck breaks silence after Mormon Wives star files for divorce

Zac Affleck has spoken out for the first time since his wife, Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Jen Affleck, filed for divorce while pregnant with their fourth child.

He told People magazine on Thursday that he will “always be Jen’s supporter.”

“Hope she is happy in this next phase of life,” Zac said.

But he also made clear that his focus has shifted.

“I’m just focusing on my kids and figuring out what’s next for me,” he added.

Jen, 27, filed the divorce petition in a Provo, Utah district court on Tuesday, November 3, according to documents obtained by Entertainment Weekly.

The filing came just over a month after the couple’s fifth season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives dropped on Hulu in September.

They are also set to appear on the spinoff series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County, which premieres on Hulu on November 12.

According to TMZ, Zac did not film any scenes for the spinoff.

Jen and Zac met in 2018 on the Mormon dating app Mutual.

They married the following year and have three children: daughter Nora, 5; son Luca, 3; and daughter Penelope, 1.

In June, Jen announced she was pregnant with their fourth child.

The divorce filing includes a proposed parenting plan, though details of her custody request are not yet available.

The reason cited for the filing is also not yet known.

Per Utah civil procedure, the court issued the couple a Notice of Required Classes, mandating each party to attend divorce orientation and parenting classes.

Jen must attend the classes within 60 days of the filing; Zac has 30 days upon receipt of the notice.

The couple’s marital struggles have been a central storyline on the Hulu reality series since its debut in 2024.

In season one, they separated after arguing about Jen’s role as the breadwinner, her influencer friend group, and Zac’s gambling in Las Vegas, which was shown on the show.

During season two, they rebuilt their relationship through therapy and soon announced Jen’s pregnancy with Penelope in February 2025.

In August, Jen told People that the couple had been “navigating a lot behind closed doors” during her pregnancy.

“It’s been a lot the past couple of months, I’ll be honest,” she said at the time.

“But I do feel like I’m seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and just trying to count my blessings every single day.”

Around the same time, she shared on Instagram that she was experiencing prenatal depression.

She also underwent dental surgery during her first trimester and credited Zac for helping her through it.

“I could not be there for my kids, and so Zac really had to show up,” she told People, though she added, “he didn’t really have a choice.”

Jen announced her current pregnancy less than one year after Penelope was born.

She celebrated reaching 26 weeks of pregnancy on Instagram in September.

According to TMZ, Zac learned about Jen’s divorce filing from their reporting — not from Jen directly.

Shortly after news of the filing broke, Jen’s Mormon Wives costar Taylor Frankie Paul showed support by commenting on a video shared by the series’ official Instagram account.

“Everything aside, I will be,” the comment read, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The full context of that message was not provided.

Zac, a former medical student, has been a regular presence on the show alongside Jen since season one.

Jen appeared on Dancing with the Stars in 2024, which added to her public profile.

The couple’s relationship has been a key draw for viewers of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, which follows a group of Mormon wives and mothers in Utah navigating faith, friendship, and family.

The show has aired five seasons since its premiere in 2024.

The spinoff, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County, is set to follow Jen and other cast members after their move to California.

Jen told People in August that the move to Orange County was part of a “new era” for her family.

“It’s been a lot the past couple of months, I’ll be honest,” she repeated in that interview.

“But I do feel like I’m seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.”
