Zac Affleck Found Out His Wife Filed for Divorce on TMZ

Zac Affleck learned that his wife Jen had filed for divorce the same way the rest of the world did — through TMZ’s reporting.
Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ that Zac first found out Jen had gone to a Utah courthouse and filed to end their marriage when TMZ broke the story on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
The news hit on a painful day for the family.
Our sources say the filing came down on the birthday of the couple’s daughter, Nora.
Jen, 27, filed the petition in the Fourth Judicial District Court in Provo, Utah, according to court documents obtained by TMZ and later confirmed by ABC News.
She also submitted a proposed parenting plan, though the terms of that plan and the reason for the split have not been made public.
The couple has been married for seven years and together for eight.
They share three children: Nora, 5; Luca, 3; and Penelope, 16 months.

Jen is currently pregnant with their fourth child, expected before the end of the year.
Sources tell TMZ that Zac is now focused on their children and making sure they are doing okay amid the family shakeup.
Our sources did not want to get into the details of the split right now, especially because the news broke on their daughter’s birthday.
Meanwhile, Jen is moving full steam ahead with promotional duties for her new spinoff, “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County.”
She has press interviews and appearances scheduled for Thursday, according to sources.
TMZ also broke the story that Zac did not film scenes for the upcoming SLOMWOC spinoff.
That means any discussion of their marital troubles on the show will come from Jen’s perspective, not his.
The couple’s relationship came under much wider scrutiny when “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” debuted on Disney+ in 2024.

During the first season, an argument involving Zac’s gambling and Jen’s plans to attend a Chippendales show in Las Vegas exposed tensions between them.
They later separated, and their time apart became a major storyline in Season 2, when Jen learned she was pregnant with their third child.
In May 2025, Jen told Us Weekly that they had devoted eight hours a week to therapy.
She described filming as particularly difficult for Zac, who struggled to be vulnerable on camera, but said the couple was committed to working through their problems.
In an August interview with PEOPLE, Jen spoke about the stress of recent life changes.
“It’s been a lot the past couple of months, I’ll be honest,” she said.
“But I do feel like I’m seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and just trying to count my blessings every single day.”
She acknowledged that she and Zac had been “navigating a lot behind closed doors.”

Jen has also been open about her struggles with prenatal and postpartum depression.
During her last pregnancy, she revealed on Instagram that she faced “months filled with ups and downs” and eventually checked into a facility for support.
She described the early months of her current pregnancy as especially difficult.
In the August interview, she recalled developing an infected wisdom tooth shortly after arriving in Orange County for the spinoff.
She needed surgery, and nausea and vomiting made taking medication difficult.
Zac took on caring for their children while she was ill, and Jen credited his support even as she acknowledged they were still working through problems in their marriage.
The couple met through the Mormon dating app Mutual in 2018 and married the following June.
They recently relocated from Utah to Southern California to join the cast of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County.”

Following fallouts with former friend Whitney Leavitt, the couple had distanced themselves from their original MomTok crowd.
As of this writing, neither Jen nor Zac has publicly addressed the divorce filing.
Jen did share an Instagram Story on November 4 celebrating Nora’s fifth birthday, showing her daughter beside a pink bicycle with birthday balloons and decorations around her.
A source told PEOPLE on November 4 that Zac was “doing okay.”
“He and Jen are staying focused on preparing for the baby and supporting their kids,” the source said.
The divorce filing marks the latest chapter in a story that has played out largely in public view, from reality TV confessionals to tabloid headlines.
With Zac absent from the spinoff’s filming, the coming season will offer only Jen’s account of what went wrong.
Whether the couple will reconcile or proceed with the divorce remains unclear.
For now, both are focused on their children and the arrival of their fourth baby.
But the way Zac learned the news — through a breaking news alert — has added a layer of shock to an already painful situation.
