Alycia Baumgardner Fires Back After Caroline Dubois' Coward Jab, Vows To Easily Pick Her Apart

Alycia Baumgardner Fires Back After Caroline Dubois' Coward Jab, Vows To Easily Pick Her Apart

Unified super-featherweight champion Alycia Baumgardner responded to Caroline Dubois calling her a coward by predicting she will dismantle the British fighter.

The verbal war between the two champions has reached a new peak ahead of a potential blockbuster showdown projected for 2027.

Baumgardner made it clear that she is entirely unfazed by the insults coming from the opposite side of the Atlantic.

Instead of backing down, the American superstar issued a scathing breakdown of Dubois' boxing style.

"I just easily pick her apart," Baumgardner said in an interview with Sky Sports.

"I see a lot of holes in her game," she continued.

"I see a lot of her questioning herself and how she does things."

THE ROOTS OF A FIERY RIVALRY

The bad blood between both titleholders ignited publicly in Birmingham back in August.

Dubois had just secured another victory in her unbeaten professional campaign by defeating Amelia Moore.

Baumgardner was present, leading to a feisty exchange of words between the two elite competitors.

Following that tense confrontation, Dubois openly branded the American a "coward."

That choice of words clearly struck a nerve, prompting Baumgardner's dismissive technical assessment of the Londoner.

The American standout believes her own ring intellect far exceeds anything Dubois brings to the canvas.

"I don't need a trainer to tell me step-by-step what to do," Baumgardner explained.

"I already know it because I see it."

DIVIDING THE SKILL GAP

Dubois currently holds major gold as the WBC and WBO lightweight world champion.

Despite Dubois holding two world titles, Baumgardner remains convinced that the British fighter realizes the magnitude of what lies ahead.

"She knows deep down that she's up for a challenge," Baumgardner said.

"She's hungry, she's a champion but she knows that she's up against a world-class fighter."

The unified super-featherweight queen warned that Dubois cannot simply rely on sheer effort to close the perceived gap in technical ability.

"She knows that she's going to really have to up her game, but every time she ups her game, I up mine 10 more, so you're trying to reach something that you can't fully reach,"

Even with the bad blood brewing, Baumgardner reminded everyone that both women must stay focused on their immediate assignments.

"When that time comes, we'll see," Baumgardner said of the proposed clash.

"A fight against Caroline is definitely there but she still needs to do her job."

"She still needs to show up."

AN IMMEDIATE TEST AT LIGHTWEIGHT

Before any 2027 showdown with Dubois can materialize, Baumgardner must first handle business in a new weight division.

The American enters the ring on Sunday night in Texas, with UK viewers tuning in on Sky Sports from 1:30am on Monday morning.

She is stepping up from super-featherweight to the 135-pound lightweight division to challenge Elif Nur Turhan.

Nur Turhan enters the bout as an unbeaten fighter holding the IBF lightweight world championship.

The Turkish champion captured global attention in December 2025 by halting former Olympic standout Beatriz Ferreira.

Nur Turhan floored Ferreira in the very first round of that contest before securing a dramatic fifth-round knockout to claim the IBF strap.

That triumph cemented Nur Turhan's reputation as one of the hardest punchers in the lightweight division.

Baumgardner, however, remains unimpressed by her upcoming opponent's limited tactical approach.

"ONE-WAY FIGHTER"

Baumgardner did not hold back when analyzing Nur Turhan's style, labeling her a "one-way fighter."

The American expects the defending champion to struggle from the opening bell.

"I wouldn't say she is the most dangerous [fighter I have faced] but she does hit hard," Baumgardner acknowledged.

"I haven't felt her power enough to know if she hits hard [but] in terms of how she beat a world champion like Beatriz [Ferreira], I have to give her credit for that."

Even so, Baumgardner believes Nur Turhan's power will not be enough against an elite, well-rounded boxer.

"She has never been in the ring with someone like me," Baumgardner emphasized.

"I am not just a one-way fighter like herself: I have skills, I have great power, I have great footwork and my timing is impeccable."

"Skills pay the bills."

Baumgardner also pointed out what she considers glaring defensive deficiencies in Nur Turhan's arsenal.

"The previous fights I have seen she is easy to hit," she noted.

Baumgardner warned that once Nur Turhan tastes her punches, the dynamics inside the ring will shift completely.

"Once she gets hit by my power she is going to realise, 'okay,'" she said.

A PROVEN TRACK RECORD

Confidence has always defined Baumgardner's rise through the boxing ranks.

Her impressive 18-1 professional resume features standout victories over top-tier opposition.

Her career-defining split-decision win over fierce rival Mikaela Mayer established her as the dominant force at super-featherweight.

Most recently, Baumgardner defended her status by taking care of business against Bo Mi Re Shin.
