Haney vs Paro unification fight set for December 19

Devin Haney and Liam Paro will unify the WBO and IBF welterweight titles on Saturday, December 19, at Chase Center in San Francisco.
The fight was announced on November 5, 2026.
Haney (33-0, 15 KOs) holds the WBO belt.
Paro (28-1, 16 KOs) holds the IBF belt.
The winner will leave with two of the four major welterweight titles.
The card will stream on DAZN PPV beginning at 8 p.m. ET and 5 p.m. PT.
Four fights will be on the broadcast: Haney-Paro, a 10-round welterweight co-feature between Brian Norman Jr. and Abel Ramos, and two additional matchups.
Ticket information has not been released yet.
Top Rank and Devin Haney Promotions are promoting the show in association with No Limit Boxing and TGB Promotions.
This is Haney's second fight at Chase Center.
He fought there in December 2023, dominating Regis Prograis to become a two-division world champion at super lightweight.
Now he returns as a three-division champion.
Haney won the WBO welterweight title in November 2025, dropping and outpointing Brian Norman Jr. in a unanimous decision.
Before that, he beat Jose Ramirez in May 2025.
His April 2024 decision loss to Ryan Garcia was later overturned and ruled a no contest after Garcia tested positive for a banned substance.
Haney became undisputed lightweight champion in 2022 by traveling to Australia twice to beat George Kambosos Jr.
He then outpointed Vasiliy Lomachenko in May 2023.
"My resume speaks for itself," Haney said in the announcement.
"I've never been afraid to go into a champion's backyard and put my record on the line."
"I went to Australia, took George Kambosos' belts, and became undisputed lightweight champion of the world."
"Now I'm bringing another Australian world champion, Liam Paro, into my backyard."
"This time, I plan to take his belt and become a unified welterweight world champion right here at home."
Haney also referenced the Bay Area's recent championship success.
"Oakland is where my story started, and the Bay Area has always been part of who I am," he said.
"The Valkyries just brought a championship to Chase Center, and on December 19, I plan to keep that championship energy going."
"I made history in Australia. Now it's time to make history at home."
Paro, a native of Mackay, Australia, has his own history of winning on the road.
He went to Puerto Rico in June 2024 and outpointed Subriel Matias for a super lightweight title.
He lost that title by split decision to Richardson Hitchins in his first defense in December 2024.
Paro then moved up to welterweight.
He stopped Jonathan Navarro after five rounds.
He outpointed the unbeaten David Papot.
In June 2026, he handed Lewis Crocker his first defeat by unanimous decision in Brisbane to win the IBF welterweight belt.
That made him a two-division champion.
Top Rank President Todd duBoef praised the matchup.
"The historically prestigious welterweight division is heating up, and it all starts on December 19 in San Francisco when Devin Haney and Liam Paro unify their titles," duBoef said.
"It is a pleasure to be reunited with Team Haney after orchestrating his successful bid for the undisputed lightweight championship in 2022."
"Paro is no stranger to winning on the road, having broken the hearts of Puerto Rican fans when he upset Subriel Matias for his super lightweight crown."
"This is a terrific matchup with massive stakes."
Bill Haney, Devin's father and promoter, also commented.
"We are excited to partner with Top Rank, PBC, No Limit Promotions and DAZN to deliver another major night of championship boxing," Bill Haney said.
"At Devin Haney Promotions, our commitment is to bring meaningful, high-level fights to the sport, and December 19 represents exactly that."
"Devin Haney and Liam Paro are two reigning world champions competing in one of the hottest divisions in boxing."

"This is a championship unification, with the WBO and IBF welterweight titles at stake and the winner taking another step toward becoming undisputed."
DAZN's Head of Boxing for North America, Britton Hardin, also weighed in.
"Devin Haney aka Debo's homecoming sets the stage for a blockbuster welterweight unification showdown in San Francisco," Hardin said.
"With Liam Paro looking to make his own statement, and Brian Norman Jr. facing battle-tested former world title challenger Abel Ramos, this card brings together elite talent, compelling rivalries and high stakes."
The welterweight division has four major world titles: WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO.
A fighter needs all four to be considered undisputed champion.
The winner of Haney-Paro will hold two of those four belts.
Neither man holds the WBA or WBC welterweight titles.
The WBA belt is held by Eimantas Stanionis.
The WBC belt is held by Mario Barrios.
Haney's last fight was a 12-round unanimous decision over Brian Norman Jr. in November 2025.
He dropped Norman in the second round and controlled the fight from there.
That win earned him the WBO welterweight title.
Paro's last fight was a unanimous decision over Lewis Crocker in June 2026 in Brisbane, Australia.
That win earned him the IBF welterweight title.
Paro is 28 years old.
Haney is 27 years old.
The fight comes after a proposed matchup between Haney and Shakur Stevenson fell through.
Talks for that fight collapsed, leading Haney's team to pursue Paro instead.
Haney has fought at lightweight, super lightweight and welterweight.
He became undisputed lightweight champion in 2022.
He became a two-division champion at super lightweight in 2023.
He became a three-division champion at welterweight in 2025.
Paro has fought at super lightweight and welterweight.
He became a two-division champion in 2026.
The co-feature pits Brian Norman Jr. against Abel Ramos in a 10-round welterweight fight.
Norman is a former welterweight world champion.
Ramos is a two-time world title challenger.
Norman lost his WBO welterweight title to Haney in November 2025.
Ramos has challenged for world titles twice but has not won a belt.
Both men are looking to get back into title contention.
The card will be available on DAZN PPV.
Pricing for the PPV has not been announced yet.
DAZN has carried several major boxing events in 2026, including fights featuring Canelo Alvarez and Gervonta Davis.
Chase Center is the home of the Golden State Warriors.
The venue opened in 2019.
It has hosted several major boxing events, including Haney's win over Prograis in 2023.
The Valkyries, the WNBA team that shares the arena, won a championship in 2026, which Haney referenced in his comments.
Haney has a 33-0 record with 15 knockouts.
Paro has a 28-1 record with 16 knockouts.
Both fighters have fought primarily at the championship level in recent years.
Haney's only blemish is the no contest against Garcia.
Paro's only loss is the split decision to Hitchins.

Neither man has been stopped.
The fight represents a homecoming for Haney, who grew up in Oakland, California.
He moved to Las Vegas as a teenager but still considers the Bay Area home.
Paro has never fought in the United States as a professional.
He has fought in Australia, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom.
This will be his first fight on American soil.
The fight is scheduled for 12 rounds at welterweight, which has a 147-pound limit.
Both fighters are expected to make weight comfortably.
Haney has never missed weight in his professional career.
Paro has never missed weight either.
The bout is the latest in a series of unification fights in the welterweight division.
The division has been active in 2026, with several title changes and unification attempts.
Fans and analysts have debated whether the fight will sell well on PPV.
Neither Haney nor Paro is considered a major box-office draw.
Haney's biggest PPV event was against Ryan Garcia in 2024, which sold well but was later tainted by Garcia's failed drug test.
Paro has never headlined a major PPV card.
The undercard will need strong matchups to drive buys.
Top Rank has not announced the two additional fights beyond Norman-Ramos.
More announcements are expected in the coming weeks.
The fight will determine who takes the next step toward undisputed welterweight champion.
The winner will likely pursue the winner of future fights between Stanionis and Barrios, or whoever holds the remaining belts at the time.
Haney has expressed interest in becoming a two-time undisputed champion.
Paro has said he wants to prove he belongs at the top of the division.
The fight is set for December 19, just days before Christmas.
Boxing traditionally schedules major events in December to capture holiday pay-per-view sales.
Haney vs. Paro will compete with other holiday entertainment for viewer attention.
The event starts at 5 p.m. PT and 8 p.m. ET, a typical time for West Coast boxing cards.
This timing allows East Coast fans to watch the main event before midnight.
The fight will be broadcast in multiple countries through DAZN's international platform.
DAZN has streaming rights in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and several other markets.
The fight is expected to draw significant interest in Australia due to Paro's involvement.
Haney has a following in Australia from his two fights there against Kambosos.
The bout is a genuine 50-50 matchup on paper.
Haney is known for his boxing IQ, speed and reach.
Paro is known for his power, pressure and durability.
Both fighters have shown the ability to adjust during fights.
The winner will have a strong claim to being the best welterweight in the world, at least until the other belts are unified.
The fight represents a significant risk for both men.
Haney is the A-side and the favorite on paper.
Paro is the underdog but has proven he can win on the road.
The stakes are high, and the outcome is uncertain.
That uncertainty is what makes the fight compelling.
Whether it will translate into PPV buys remains the big question.
