Hila Klein Files for Divorce Amid Cheating Scandal

Hila Klein has filed for divorce from her husband Ethan Klein, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE and TMZ.

The H3 Podcast co-host submitted the petition for dissolution of marriage on November 2, 2026, in Los Angeles County.

She lists the couple's date of separation as October 13, 2026 — just three days after their 14th wedding anniversary on October 10.

Hila publicly accused Ethan of having an affair nine days later, in the late evening hours of October 22.

In an Instagram statement that stunned the online community, Hila wrote that she had sensed something was wrong in her relationship.

"Things that bothered me continued to bother me, and he did nothing about it," she said in the post.

"Eventually, he was caught in a lie, and I knew I was done. But the lies continued. 'It was just a kiss' became 'it was emotional cheating.'"

She added that Ethan eventually admitted to a months-long affair, though she said she still does not know the full extent of it.

"I am in survival mode, trying to navigate separation, co-parenting, and unthinkable heartbreak," Hila wrote.

"All I can do right now is focus on taking care of myself and my children, one day at a time."

The filing cites irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce.

Hila is seeking joint legal and physical custody of the couple's three sons: Theodore, 7, Bruce, 4, and Sunny, 2.

She is also requesting spousal support from Ethan.

Additionally, she asks that Ethan cover her legal fees.

Hila is represented by Laura Wasser, a high-profile divorce attorney whose past clients include Kim Kardashian, Angelina Jolie, and Heidi Klum.

Wasser is known for handling complex, celebrity divorces and for pushing for streamlined proceedings.

Ethan Klein has not publicly responded to the divorce filing as of this report.

Neither party responded to requests for comment from PEOPLE at the time of publication.

Ethan did, however, take to Instagram in the weeks following Hila's October 22 statement to announce he was working to "urgently remove" his ownership and financial stakes in the couple's production company.

That company, h3h3Productions, was co-founded by the couple in 2011.

Hila and Ethan first met in 2007 and married on October 10, 2012, in a ceremony attended by family and close friends.

Together, they built one of the most recognizable independent podcasts on YouTube, with the H3 Podcast drawing millions of viewers per episode.

The show features commentary on internet culture, interviews, and comedy sketches.

Beyond the podcast, Hila founded the streetwear brand Teddy Fresh, which has collaborated with major franchises including SpongeBob SquarePants, Rick and Morty, Elton John, and Care Bears.

In 2025, she launched a spin-off cosmetics line called Teddy Glow.

Ethan, 41, and Hila, 38, have been the subject of intense online speculation since Hila's initial statement.

Fans noticed that the H3 Podcast had been placed on an "indefinite hiatus" shortly before Hila's Instagram post.

It remains unclear whether the podcast will return, and if so, in what form.

The divorce filing provides the first legal documentation of the couple's separation timeline.

Under California law, a divorce petition must list the date of separation, which is used to determine what property is considered marital versus separate.

The date of separation is the point at which the couple physically separated with the intent to end the marriage.

Hila's listing of October 13 — three days after the anniversary — has drawn particular attention from fans and legal observers.

In California, a marriage must be dissolved by a court order, and the process typically takes at least six months from the date of filing.

The couple's three children are all under the age of eight, which means a custody evaluation and parenting plan will likely be required.

California family courts prioritize the best interests of the child when determining custody arrangements.

Joint custody, which Hila is seeking, means both parents share legal decision-making authority and physical custody time.

Spousal support, also known as alimony, is determined based on the length of the marriage, the standard of living during the marriage, and each spouse's earning capacity.

The couple had been married for 14 years, which under California guidelines is considered a marriage of long duration.

That status means spousal support could be ordered for a period equal to half the length of the marriage, or longer in some circumstances.

Hila's request for Ethan to pay her legal fees is also common in high-asset divorces where one spouse has significantly more financial resources.

The involvement of Laura Wasser signals that Hila is prepared for a potentially contentious legal process.

Wasser is the founder of Wasser, Cooperman & Mandles, P.C., and has represented numerous high-net-worth individuals in divorce proceedings.

She is known for her efficient, no-nonsense approach and for frequently moving cases toward settlement rather than trial.

The divorce filing also raises questions about the future of the couple's shared business interests.

H3 Productions owns the H3 Podcast, its related merchandise lines, and intellectual property.

Teddy Fresh, while founded by Hila, has been closely tied to the H3 brand and its audience.

Ethan's statement about removing his ownership and financial stakes from the production company suggests he may be stepping away from the business entirely.

It is not yet clear how the divorce will affect the ownership structure of either company.

The couple's online presence has been a central part of their identity for over a decade.

Their YouTube channel, h3h3Productions, has over 4 million subscribers.

The H3 Podcast channel has more than 3 million subscribers.

Together, the channels have generated tens of millions of views and significant advertising and sponsorship revenue.

The divorce filing is the latest — and most formal — chapter in a story that began to unfold publicly on October 22.

Since then, fans have pored over old podcast clips, social media posts, and legal documents for clues about what led to the split.

One resurfaced clip shows Ethan discussing the topic of infidelity on the podcast, which has taken on new significance in light of the allegations.

Hila's Instagram statement described a gradual erosion of trust.

"Eventually, he was caught in a lie, and I knew I was done," she wrote.

She described her husband's initial minimization of the affair, from "just a kiss" to an acknowledgment of emotional cheating, and finally to an admission of a months-long physical relationship.
