Meghan Markle's half-brother named person of interest in child abuse probe

Meghan Markle’s Family NIGHTMARE: Brother Drawn Into Father’s Disturbing Philippines Investigation.
Philippine authorities have named Thomas Markle Jr. — Meghan Markle’s half-brother — as a person of interest in the child abuse investigation involving their father, Thomas Markle Sr.
The development was announced Thursday, November 5, 2026, by Philippine Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla.
Remulla told reporters that investigators had received new witness information concerning the younger Markle.
“There are signs that point that the son is involved in the crime as well but only as a person of interest so far,” Remulla said.
Thomas Markle Jr. is not a criminal suspect at this time.
Neither he nor his father have been charged with any offense.
The case began in October 2026, when Thomas Markle Jr. approached Philippine authorities and claimed he had discovered suspected child sexual abuse material among belongings associated with his father.
He handed over electronic devices and other items to police in Cebu, Philippines.
He also contacted the FBI and alerted them to two storage units in Los Angeles.
According to Remulla, more than 7,000 photos and one video were recovered from the devices.
The images depicted under-age males and females of Asian, Latin and European descent, with some as young as 10 and 11.
Remulla described the material as “the most deplorable displays of impunity towards sexual activity that I have ever seen.”
Philippine National Police Chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. confirmed that child sexual abuse material had been found on a mobile phone and three memory cards handed over by Thomas Markle Sr.
Authorities are also investigating a laptop found alongside images depicting child abuse at a property believed to be the 82-year-old’s former residence.
Remulla said that “appropriate legal actions” would be taken should sufficient evidence be found.

Now the investigation has expanded to include Thomas Markle Jr.
Remulla explained that a witness alleged underage girls were brought to a residence associated with Thomas Markle Jr. in the Philippines.
“We have a witness [who says] underage girls were being brought to his house,” Remulla said.
“We will investigate whether the son was involved in the crime.”
Authorities have not established whether those alleged visits involved criminal conduct or whether they were connected to the material recovered during the investigation.
Remulla emphasized that police were examining the possibility of other individuals being involved rather than limiting their inquiries to Thomas Markle Sr.
“To accuse the father only is only half the police work,” he said.
Investigators are now seeking FBI assistance to establish who owned or controlled the electronic devices containing the material.
The total number of files involving minors recovered from the devices is approximately 7,500.
Remulla said authorities would know more “in the next few days.”
Thomas Markle Jr. remains in the Philippines.
A spokesman for Meghan Markle declined to comment on the investigation.
The case has drawn international attention due to the involvement of the Duchess of Sussex’s estranged family.
Thomas Markle Sr., 82, is Meghan Markle’s father.
He and Meghan have been estranged for years, with their relationship publicly strained since before her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018.
Thomas Markle Jr., 60, is Meghan’s half-brother from their father’s previous marriage.

He has also had a publicly difficult relationship with Meghan, including writing an open letter to Prince Harry before the royal wedding in 2018.
The investigation began in the Philippines, where Thomas Markle Sr. had been living.
Philippine authorities conducted a raid on a property in Cebu linked to the elder Markle.
Mexican police also raided a storage unit that Thomas Markle Sr. is said to have rented near his former home in Rosarito, Mexico.
Thomas Markle Jr. alerted the FBI to two storage units in Los Angeles shortly after the Mexican raid.
The FBI has joined the international probe, though the exact scope of their involvement has not been detailed.
Remulla confirmed that investigators are working with U.S. authorities to determine jurisdiction and ownership of the devices.
Thomas Markle Sr. has reportedly moved into memory care, raising questions about his ability to be interviewed by the FBI.
Remulla said the investigation is ongoing and that no timeline has been set for its conclusion.
The interior secretary stressed that both Thomas Markle Sr. and Thomas Markle Jr. are presumed innocent until proven otherwise.
“We’re determining if son is involved,” Remulla said.
“There are signs that point that the son is involved in the crime as well but only as a person of interest so far.”
The case continues to develop as Philippine authorities gather evidence and coordinate with international law enforcement.
Meghan Markle has not made any public statement regarding the investigation.
The Duchess of Sussex resides in Montecito, California, with Prince Harry and their two children.
The investigation has no known connection to Meghan Markle or her immediate family.
Philippine law enforcement officials have not indicated whether charges are imminent for either Thomas Markle Sr. or Thomas Markle Jr.
The case remains under active investigation.
