Janet Caperna Reveals Brittany Cartwright Slip About Brock Davies Led to Scheana Shay Fallout

Janet Caperna explained that her falling out with Scheana Shay started after she mistakenly assumed Brittany Cartwright already knew about Brock Davies' infidelity chapter in Scheana's memoir.
The reality television star laid out the timeline of their fractured bond during an appearance on SiriusXM's Jeff Lewis Live.
For months, fans had speculated about the obvious distance between the two personalities.
Now, Caperna has provided a detailed look at the private moment that fractured their multi-year friendship.
According to Caperna, the two women have not spoken in months after years of close personal ties.
"We were very close for very many years, and I will always wish her well," Caperna explained during the interview.
She made it clear that she maintains goodwill toward Shay’s household despite the deep rupture.
"I love her and her family, but we’re not speaking right now," Caperna stated.
The tension traces directly back to the promotional buildup for Shay’s personal memoir.
The book, titled My Good Side: A Memoir, was prepared for a July 2025 release.

Inside the book, Shay planned to address past infidelity involving her husband, Brock Davies.
Managing sensitive marital revelations often requires precise timing and delicate media management.
For Shay, public disclosure of Davies’ past unfaithfulness represented a significant and vulnerable chapter.
THE GATHERING AT SCHEANA SHAY'S HOME
According to Caperna, the trouble originated during a casual get-together at Shay's house.
The friends were gathered socially while their children played together in the home.
During the visit, Shay spoke openly about the chapter concerning Davies and the emotional toll it was taking.
Shay expressed nervousness regarding the promotional tour and press interviews planned around the topic.
"She initially got mad at me because she was talking about Brock cheating on her, and she was publishing it in her book and doing press for it," Caperna recalled.
Caperna was fully aware of the material, as was fellow reality star Lala Kent.

"We were all at her house, and I knew that Lala knew, and Scheana was talking about this chapter and how she’s doing press for it and she was nervous for it, and Brittany was right there," Caperna said.
Because Cartwright was present during the discussion, Caperna naturally believed Cartwright was fully aware of the book's details.
"We were all chasing around our kids," Caperna noted of the distracted setting.
THE PARKING LOT CONFUSION
The misunderstanding came to a head as the guests prepared to depart the residence.
As they were walking out, Cartwright asked Caperna to clarify what Shay had been discussing.
Cartwright asked Caperna, "What was that thing about the book?"
Caperna answered without hesitation, believing she was simply referencing shared information.
"Oh, she’s worried about the Brock chapter coming out," Caperna recalled telling Cartwright.
Cartwright's immediate confusion instantly revealed that she had missed the context entirely.

Cartwright asked in surprise, "What? What’s the Brock chapter?"
Caperna described realizing in that exact second that she had mentioned unreleased, private details to someone who did not know.
"And I was like, 'Oh s---, you don’t know?'" Caperna recalled.
Realizing the sensitive nature of the topic, Caperna immediately urged Cartwright to keep the information quiet.
"And so I was like, 'Don’t say anything. The book comes out in like a week or two. She’ll tell you, or you’ll see it when it comes out.'"
Caperna emphasized that Cartwright had simply been nearby while Shay spoke, leading to the miscalculation.
"So in my head, I’m like, 'Brittany knows. Lala knows. I know,'" Caperna explained.
She had assumed that Cartwright, as a trusted and long-standing friend, was already inside the inner circle of confidence.
"I was like, 'Obviously, Brittany’s a good friend. Scheana’s doing press for this,'" Caperna added.
APOLOGIES AND BROKEN TRUST

Word of the conversation quickly reached Shay, prompting an immediate collapse in communication.
Shay felt that Caperna had breached her trust by discussing her husband's private affairs behind her back.
Caperna maintained that the exchange was an entirely innocent misunderstanding rather than a malicious gossip session.
Furthermore, Caperna stressed that the private information never reached the press or the public prematurely.
"Brittany didn’t leak it. It all came out exactly how Scheana wanted it to come out. I apologized profusely to Scheana, and she, after that, kind of held me like, like, ‘I can’t trust you,'" Caperna shared.
Despite Caperna offering multiple apologies, Shay reportedly pulled back and maintained an emotional barrier.
Caperna said that subsequent attempts to salvage the relationship were unsuccessful.
"After that, it just got nasty. It was like, we tried to be friends," Caperna confessed.
The lingering resentment proved insurmountable, turning a close bond into a total freeze-out.
SHAY FIRES BACK AND WIDER CAST DIVISIONS

The rift between Caperna and Shay has since become a matter of public debate among fans and castmates.
Following Caperna's radio appearance, Shay appeared to fire back with pointed social media reactions.
Shay has previously indicated that she viewed the discussion of Davies' infidelity as an undeniable betrayal of boundaries.
Caperna also offered broader commentary on Shay’s current relationships with former co-stars.
She specifically suggested that Shay has become estranged from multiple former castmates over the years.
Caperna pointed out that Lala Kent is among those no longer actively speaking with Shay.
"I think of most of her castmates, she’s only in touch with one or two, maybe. After like, years and years on a show," Caperna claimed.
The observation added fuel to allegations that Shay has a pattern of burning bridges within her social circle.
Navigating friendships under the microscope of reality television frequently magnifies everyday interpersonal mistakes.
When personal secrets, commercial book releases, and overlapping social groups collide, missteps carry severe consequences.
Caperna remains firm in her stance that her conversation with Cartwright was nothing more than an accidental slip.
Shay, on the other hand, viewed the discussion of Davies' infidelity as an irreparable breach of loyalty.
With neither side backing down, the former close allies show no sign of an impending reconciliation.
Did Janet make an honest mistake by mentioning the memoir chapter to Brittany, or was Scheana completely justified in losing trust?
