Only Four ATP Finals Spots Remain As Novak Djokovic And Frances Tiafoe Battle In Paris

Only four spots remain in the ATP Finals race as the Rolex Paris Masters enters its decisive days.
Four players have already secured their place at the season-ending event in Turin: Carlos Alcaraz, Ben Shelton, Daniil Medvedev, and Flavio Cobolli.
That leaves four slots open — and six men still fighting for them at the final Masters 1000 tournament of the year.
The contenders include Arthur Fils, Frances Tiafoe, Rafael Jodar, Alex de Minaur, Novak Djokovic, and Taylor Fritz.
Each loss in Paris eliminates a player from contention.
Each win keeps hope alive.
Ben Shelton, who recently added Juan Carlos Ferrero to his coaching team, began his Paris campaign with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Cameron Norrie.
After the match, Shelton spoke about the race and named two players he wants to see qualify.

"Two of my close friends are still in the race in Arthur Fils and Frances Tiafoe, I would love to see those guys solidify their spot," Shelton told BB Tennis.
He also acknowledged the difficulty of the competition.
"I'm sad there is only going to be eight guys there but I'm looking forward to the competition and finishing the year on a positive note."
Arthur Fils currently sits sixth in the ATP Finals race with 3,535 ranking points.
Frances Tiafoe is one spot below him with 3,390 points.
Alex de Minaur is on the outside looking in, ranked ninth in the race.
The Australian trails young Spanish star Rafael Jodar, who currently holds the eighth and final qualifying position.
Jodar lost to Casper Ruud in the Paris Masters second round, handing de Minaur a valuable opportunity.

If de Minaur defeats Tomas Martin Etcheverry on Wednesday, he will increase his points total to 3,260 and overtake Jodar in the race.
Novak Djokovic is also in the hunt, trailing de Minaur by 230 points in the race standings.
Djokovic will need a deep run in Paris to close the gap and secure his spot in Turin.
Taylor Fritz remains in the mix as well, though his path requires strong results in the coming days.
The ATP Finals, held in Turin, Italy, feature the top eight singles players and doubles teams from the season.
The event runs from mid-November and is considered one of the most prestigious titles on the calendar.
For the players still fighting, every match in Paris carries enormous weight.
A single loss could end a season.

A single win could punch a ticket to Turin.
The Rolex Paris Masters draw remains wide open, with several top seeds still alive.
Shelton, already qualified, said he is staying locked in despite having secured his spot.
"I think I have been pretty locked in. I have big goals I am still striving for, even though I have qualified for the finals, I want to be in good form when I get there. I am as motivated as ever," he said.
His new coaching partnership with Juan Carlos Ferrero — Carlos Alcaraz's former coach — has added another layer of intrigue to the season finale.
Ferrero, a former world No. 1 and French Open champion, brings Grand Slam-winning experience to Shelton's team.
The American US Open finalist has shown steady improvement throughout the year, and his game appears well-suited to indoor hard courts.
For the players still in the race, the next few days will define their seasons.
Which four players do you think will secure the remaining qualification spots for Turin before the week ends?
